Store in a cool place. May irritate skin, nose, throat and eyes. Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals. Store away from food, feeds, fertilizer and other agricultural chemicals. Re-entry interval: do not enter treated area until spray deposit has dried unless wearing protective clothing. Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions the registration holder does not warrant that it will be efficacious under all conditions because the action and effect thereof may be affected by factors such as abnormal climatic and storage conditions; compatibility with other substances not indicated on the label and the occurrence of resistance of the weeds against the remedy concerned as well as by the method, time and accuracy of application. The registration holder furthermore does not accept responsibility for damage to crops, vegetation, the environment or harm to man or animal or for lack of performance of the remedy concerned due to failure of the user to follow the label instructions or to the occurrence of conditions which could not have been foreseen in terms of the registration. Consult the supplier in the event of any uncertainty. PRECAUTIONS Wear rubber gloves and face shield protection when handling the concentrate. Do not inhale spray mist. Wash with soap and water after use or after accidental skin contact. Do not eat, drink or smoke whilst mixing or applying herbicide. Wash contaminated clothing daily. February 2012 2
Avoid drift of spray onto other crops, grazing, rivers, dams or any area not under treatment. Thoroughly clean application equipment after use and dispose of wash water where it will not contaminate crops, grazing, rivers and dams. Destroy empty container by perforation and flattening and NEVER use for any other purpose. Prevent contamination of food, feeds, drinking water and eating utensils. RESISTANCE WARNING For resistance management, SANZO 780 WP is a group code C1 + C2 herbicide. Any weed population may contain individual weeds naturally resistant to SANZO 780 WP and other group code C herbicides. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly. These resistant weeds may not be controlled by SANZO 780 WP or any other group code C herbicide. In order to delay herbicide resistance: Avoid the exclusive and repeated use of herbicides from the same herbicide group code. Alternate or tank mix with products from different herbicide group codes. Integrate chemical and cultural control methods into weed control programmes. For more information on resistance management, contact the registration holder. Eleusine coracana Eragrostis curvula Lolium multiflorum Lolium perenne Lolium temulentum Setaria pallide-fusca Urochloa panicoides Goose grass Weeping love grass Italian rye grass Perennial rye grass Darnel Garden bristle grass Garden urochloa USE RESTRICTIONS Only for use in the winter rainfall area. Do not apply where drip irrigation is practised. Do not apply to areas where erosion has exposed the roots of the trees. Do not apply on brackish soil or on soil with a ph value of above 7. Do not use SANZO 780 WP on shallow soils nor in orchards subject to waterlogging conditions. No pre-emergence herbicides should be sprayed on soil with drainage problems. Do not apply to gravelly or stony soils where the soil surface is covered by more than 60% gravel and/or stones. Apply only to peach or plum orchards where the trees have been established for 3 or more years. Apple trees can be treated at any stage once established in an orchard situation. Do not apply SANZO 780 WP in nurseries or nearby to or over the top of nursery plant material. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: use only as directed Apply SANZO 780 WP as a directed spray to the soil. Do not apply directly over trees and do not allow the spray mixture to come into contact with any portion of young trees. The recommended application rates must under no circumstances be exceeded. Application of the herbicide must be carried out in early spring before any summer weeds have germinated and emerged. It is adviseable to first kill existing weeds with a suitable herbicide and thereafter to apply SANZO 780 WP in the spring (from September). Where young germinated weeds are already present a registered post-emergence herbicide may be applied together with SANZO 780 WP, provided the spray tank is fitted with an effective agitating mechanism. The best effect of SANZO 780 WP will be obtained only if applied from September onwards. Application done too early may result in leaching and poor efficacy on late-germinating summer weeds. Note: ph of spray water The efficacy of SANZO 780 WP may be reduced by very hard water (>1000 p.p.m. solutes) and by water with a high ph value. When SANZO 780 WP is used, the optimal efficacy thereof February 2012 4
will be obtained in water of ph 4,5-5,5. Water of a higher or lower ph than 4,5-5,5 should be buffered to ph 4,5-5,5 by using CURABUFF 500 SL (Reg No L4731). Where CURABUFF 500 SL is used to adjust the ph of the water, the CURABUFF 500 SL must be mixed with the total volume of water required for that particular tank mixture before adding the SANZO 780 WP. Use the spray mixture without delay and do not allow to stand for prolonged periods (e.g. overnight) in the spray tank. If the spray mixture did, for one or other reason, stand for some time then it should first be thoroughly agitated for a number of minutes prior to the recommencement of spraying. Mixing instructions Half fill the spray tank with water. Engage the pump to ensure satisfactory agitation. Add the required amount of SANZO 780 WP. Bring the tank to capacity with water. Maintain thorough agitation throughout the mixing process and while spraying. At the end of the day, the spray tank should be well flushed with water. Application Accurately calibrate spraying equipment before application. Use flat fan nozzles to ensure a uniform coverage. Apply recommended amount of SANZO 780 WP in 200-400 l/ ha (treated area). Avoid excessive overlapping of spray bands. Apply as a directed spray and avoid drift of the spray mix onto the leaves of the trees. Rain or irrigation is needed within 2 weeks of application to ensure optimum results. APPLICATION RATES Pre-emergence of weeds CROP Apples, peaches and plums DOSAGE RATE OF REMARKS SANZO 780 WP 1,0 to 2,0 kg/ha The higher dosage rate is recommended in the presence of hea weed infestation and for longer residu action. Do not apply SANZO 780 WP in nurseries or near to or over nursery plant material. NOTE: PRE-EMERGENCE APPLICATION On soils which are acid, alkaline or brackish, crops may be more susceptible to herbicide injury owing to stress and sub-optimal growth and the herbicidal efficacy of SANZO 780 WP may be adversely affected.
