DVS Fireplace Installation WARNING: Turn the gas control valve off and make sure the appliance has fully cooled prior to conducting service. 1 Install the brackets onto the fireplace as shown below. NOTE: Make sure the face mounting angles are in the rectangular position. Attach the face mounting brackets with the included screws. 5/16" Nutdriver NOTE: remove the glass to install the brackets. DVS Fireplace Installation (continued) 2 Prepare the face as shown below. DVS Fireplace Air Deflector b Loosen the bolts on this bracket and install the deflector underneath the bracket. Tighten the bolts to secure. c Use the bolts included with the face to attach the face hangers. 7/16 Socket a Lift the doors (and washers) off the face. Replace after the face is in place (replace the washers on the bottom hinge pins). 3 Install the face as shown below. UN-LATCHING THE DOOR To unlatch the door, insert the door latch tool into the door and turn counterclockwise. a Tilt the face back and insert the bottom brackets into the lower slots until they lock in place. WARNING: The optional enamel surface is fragile. Take care to prevent damage. b Lift and rotate the face forward until the top brackets lock into the upper slots. NOTE: The access door swings open to the left. It can be changed to open to the right by removing the hinge bolt and magnet then swapping to the opposite side. Insert Installation WARNING: Turn the gas control valve off and make sure the appliance has fully cooled prior to conducting service. Installation Notice This kit lowers the face and surround panels 1-1/4. This means you must install this with a raised fireplace or raise the insert 1-1/4 above the hearth. To do this you may extend the leveling bolts or place bricks or other non-combustible under the insert. 1-1/4 Preparing the Insert Remove the face connector bracket from the heater (on both sides). Insert Installation (continued) Installing the Stabilizer Bar (required to keep the insert from rocking forward) Place the stabilizer bar on top of the insert and tighten these bolts. This locks the bar in place and keeps the insert from rocking forward when attaching the face and panels. Preparing the Face DVS Insert EF II Bedford Face Backing Plate b Loosen the bolts on this bracket and install the backing plate underneath the bracket. Tighten the bolts to secure. c Use the bolts included with the face to attach the face hangers (face hangers are shipped with the face). a Lift the doors (and 7/16 Socket washers) off the face. Replace after the face is in place (replace the washers on the bottom hinge pins). UN-LATCHING THE DOOR To unlatch the door, insert the door latch tool into the door and turn counterclockwise. Insert Installation (continued) Installation with Steel (sheet metal) Surround Panels Remove and discard the top convection deflector. Replace the screws. Install the panels as detailed in the panel installation instructions. The side panels will attach to the Bedford side brackets. The top panel will install normally and the return on the top panel will deflect the convection air through the Bedford face. NOTE: The Bedford side brackets lower the face and surround panels 1-1/4. Make sure to choose the correct size of panels for your installation. NOTE: We do not recommend using a lower panel when using this kit. Because the face and panels extend 1-1/4 below the unit, you will probably not need the lower panel. However, if you do use a lower panel, you will need to notch the sides of the lower panel 1-1/4 to line up with the side panels. Page 6 of 8 2/16/06 Travis Industries, Inc.
Insert Installation (continued) Installation with Cast Iron Surround Panels or No Surround Panels Install the convection deflector following the directions below. The cast panels install in the same fashion (see the instructions included with the panels). Remove and discard the top convection deflector. Install the Bedford cast panel convection deflector.
