Remote control Installation and operating guide

REMOTE CONTROL Installation and operating guide 2 Introduction REMOTE CONTROL Installation and operating guide 3 Safety Each astral TM remote control can provide on/off control over switches and on/off and dimming control over dimmers. Up to 64 different switches and dimmers can be controlled by each remote control. These can be split into up to 4 separate groups and 4 separate scenes a scene is where preset lighting levels can be recalled and adjusted to set desired lighting moods. The remote control also allows activation of the astral TM system ALL-OFF function. The remote control also incorporates a command status indicator giving visual indication and confirmation that any commands to other switches and dimmers have been successfully received. The remote control is supplied with a wall mounting bracket and should be used in dry indoor locations only. The remote control can be used as the system s primary controller. Group control and dimming When turning on a group, dimmers will turn on at the light level they were set to before they were turned off. The light levels of all dimmers in a group will align to the same level after any dimming operation ends. Scene control and dimming When turning on dimmers in a scene they will always go to their programmed light level for the scene. Dimming of all dimmers in a scene will maintain any difference in light level after dimming stops. The light levels will not align. Always follow the manufacturer s advice when using power tools, steps, ladders etc. and wear appropriate protective equipment such as safety goggles when drilling holes. Before drilling holes in walls, check for hidden electricity cables and water pipes, and use a cable/pipe locater if in doubt.

IMPORTANT Do not fit rechargeable batteries or mix new and old batteries or batteries of different types. FIXING THE WALL MOUNTING CRADLE Drill 6mm holes for the wall plugs. Note The wall plugs supplied are not suitable for plasterboard walls, if mounting the product onto plasterboard walls use appropriate wall plugs. You can change the group and scene selection buttons on your remote control to customise it according to your own specific needs and setup using the spare buttons available separately. 1 Remove the batteries and remove the front plate retaining screws located under the battery cover. 2 Remove the metal front plate. 3 Lever off and remove the group and scene buttons that you wish to be replaced. Push the button onto the shaft until it clips into place. 5 Replace the front plate ensuring the snap fits on the top edge are engaged. 4 Fit the new buttons in place over the rubber keypad, locating the side clip under the central moulding. 6 Refit the fixing screws, batteries and battery cover.

To add the remote control into an existing system please refer to your system programming guide for instructions on adding a product to an existing system. Quick start guide System programming guide

REMOTE CONTROL Installation and operating guide Programming the controller into an existing system 11 There are 3 steps to adding the REMOTE CONTROL to an existing system Step 1 Inclusion Step 2 Replication Step 3 Association STEP 1 IncluDE THE REMOTE CONTROL into the system 1 Refer to your system programming guide for inclusion. 2 When you need to select the remote control to include it into the system press any button on the front. STEP 2 REPLICATE THE ROUTING TABLe Note You will only need to update the routing table in the remote control and other system controllers if any mains powered products have been added at this time. To update the routing table in the remote control refer to your system programming guide for replication. 1 Put your networks primary controller into replication transmit mode. 2 Hold down both the Inc and Asc buttons on the remote control for 2 seconds until the indicators illuminate yellow and then release. 3 The Inc and Asc indicators will flash yellow while the routing table is copied and then turn green for 4 seconds when completed. If the indicators turn red, replication has not succeeded and must be attempted again. 3 If the remote control is included successfully all group and scene buttons will flash blue 3 times. This puts the remote control into replicate receive mode.

REMOTE CONTROL Installation and operating guide Programming the controller into an existing system 13 step 3 ASSOCIATE WITH SWITCHES AND DIMMERS TO CREATE GROUPS AND SCENES compartment cover from the remote control. 2 Hold down the Asc button for 2 seconds until the indicator turns yellow and release. Your remote control is now in associate mode. Note A gap of over 60 seconds between steps will cause your controller to automatically exit associate mode. 3 Turn the remote control over and press the group or scene button that you wish to create the associations on. The selected group or scene button will illuminate blue. 4 Holding your remote control within 2 metres of the switch or dimmer being added to the group or scene and press the required channel operation button on the switch or dimmer. <2m If creating a scene, adjust the dimmer or switch to the required light level. The status and Asc indicators on your remote control will flash green 3 times to show association has been successful. If the indicator does not flash green or flashes red, association has not been successful and must be attempted again. 5 Repeat step 4 for all dimmers and switches you want to add to the group or scene. 6 Take your remote control out of associate mode, by holding down the Asc button for 2 seconds until the indicator turns off.
