EMERGO

The floating Emergo Islands create space on the water. They add space to the urban landscape without having to adjust the existing infrastructure. This additional floating space is used for stacked parking and by combining sport, leisure and green landscape. The various functions will reinforce each other and form a unique unit.

Water and urban landscape keep the city healthy and vital. Water is now mostly used for transport and leisure but rarely for floating developments. Emergo Islands is an exciting new sustainable solution to realize parking, sports/leisure and urban green as profitable urban development on the water. A STABLE SPACE EFFICIENT BASE The floating island consists of a circular light-weight floor which stabilizes the island and allows for efficient use of space. The outer edges of the circle are used for parking. In the center of the circle other functions such as a sports field, ice rink, swimming pool or an open air theatre can be implemented. LARGE PARKING CAPACITY WITH A GREEN ROOF The floating floor offers space for about 600 parking spaces. The outer ring can be built up of a maximum of three light-weight floors which can expand the amount of parking spaces by 600 per floor. The roof of the outer ring offers space to realize a urban green. EXPANDABLE, MOVABLE AND MULTI-FUNCITONAL Emergo Islands can be supplied by floors and can be easily be extended with increasing parking requirements. It is unique and possible to relocate the island in case of more need for the island at a different place of the city. Reuse of the island for other purposes instead of parking is possible.

Emergo aims to develop with a focus on balance: an economical and sustainable balance goes along with the technical and social aspects of this floating urban development. Both government and private parties and / or combinations can act as client or owner. THE DUTCH APPROACH ECONOMICS - future-proof - maintaining value - independent of the location - a simple way to expand land in expensive locations - cost effective and profitable TECHNOLOGY An Emergo Island is: - ultra light-weight - expansion in stages possible - reuse possible - adaptable and portable - innovative SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT An Emergo Island : - strengthens local economy - contributes to greening and vitalizing the city - adds leisure and sports facilities - solves parking problems - leaves existing infrastructure untouched, clean and efficient and causes no inconvenience

HIGHEST LEVEL SUSTAINABLILITY For Emergo sustainability means to deal as efficiently and smartly as possible with the available resources. To devise floating solutions which are ecologically responsible. EFFICIENT RECYCLING, OVER AND OVER Immanent of our longterm thinking is the lifecycle approach. Instead of terminating raw materials in the first implementation in the island, we believe in circular thinking and reuse the materials several times. The application of the materials is purposely designed and chosen with a view to an almost infinite life of raw materials. ENERGY SELF-SUFFICIENCY Through the use of various renewable energy sources, the island is completely self-sufficient in its energy use. The park on the roof is a great contribution to the vital city and important for people, plants and animals. RELOCATABLE AND VERSATILE It is unique and possible to relocate the island if there is more need for the island at a different place in the city. It is easy to reuse the island for other purposes instead of parking.

Because of rapidly shifting economic and commercial circumstances harbor areas are changing. 19th-century harbors are becoming too small, but situated in the proximity of urban areas they are full of potential. New impulses are needed while investments are risky. The islands can be supplied in round or an oval shape. AVERAGE TOTAL COSTS (IN EURO) PER PARKING SPACE IN GARAGES Inner-city waterfronts are under high pressure while parking is problematic to organize. Emergo Islands offers the solution. It is a flexible concept. Depending on the situation and the demands it can differ in size, shape and program. 80000 70000 60000 50000 The need for parking defines the size of the island, ranging from 350 to 2000 parking spaces. The smallest island offers approximately 350 parking spaces and consists of only one floating floor with a diameter of about 70 meters. The largest island consists of a floating floor with a diameter of 200 meters and three floors for approximately 2000 parking spaces. Additional program can be added in the center or on the roof to accommodate new uses. Public or commercial activities can even be added in a later phase. Access to and from the island can be organized to strengthen emerging activities. Existing and characteristic elements such as piers, bridges and quays can be used to attach the islands to the waterfront. 40000 30000 20000 10000 0 UNDERGROUND LEVEL 0 / 540 PARKING SPACES LEVEL 1 / 670 PARKING SPACES ROOF / 670 PARKING SPACES ABOVE GROUND SECTION FLOATING PARK ABOVE GROUND RECLAIMED LAND FLOATING ISLAND WITH PARK (EMERGO)
