Important hints Ensure that the voltage rating and current type of the connected solenoid valve coincide with the specifications of the power source used. Before carrying out maintenance, repair or adjustment work, ensure that the System is not pressurized and no voltage is applied. UFZ units are designed to drain condensed moisture from compressed air and pressurized inert gas Systems. Do not use UFZ units in areas exposed to sub-zero temperatures. Characteristics / Benefits Reliable drainage of Condensed moisture No maintenance requirement Pure oil draining capability Compact design allows easy Installation at any condensate collection point Easy installation Individually selectable ON/OFF times Product discription UFZ time-controlled condensate drain units combine a solenoid valve with a programmable timer system. The time control supplies the pulses controlling the solenoid opening and closing. It can be set to individual Off-times intervals (from 0.5 to 45 min.). It also allows a fine-adjustment of the opening and closing times (from 0.5 to 10 sec.). This adapts the UFZ unit to the condensate volumes encountered in the specific application. The basic factory setting of the time control (refer to technical specifications) provides for a condensate drain capacity of approx. 5 liters/ h at an operating pressure (gauge pressure) of 7 bars. Installation Pressure side connection via G 1/8" / G 1/4" screw thread or R 1/8" / R 1/4" thread socket (see types) or enclosed R 1/2" reduction part. Drain side connection via swivelling hose clamp fitting for 6 mm hose (included in scope of supply). Installation instructions Install a separate drain unit at every condensate collecting point. Provide a condensate inlet line with a suitable gradient to prevent the formation of an air pocket. Make sure that the condensate drain unit is fitted at the lowest point of your filter, drier, air tank or piping system. Electrical connections 1. Remove the cover of the angle plug. 2. Connect terminals as shown in the wiring diagram using wires of no more than 1.5 mm 2 in cross section. 3. Tighten the screw-type conduit fitting with strain relief. 4. Refit the cover and tighten the bolts. Check that the cover gasket is properly in place (IP 65). Wiring diagram: Hint: This statement refers to possibility of connection for the time control! Connection of the valve please separately heeds! 3

Appendix Determination of the On- and Off-times (ti and tp) Between condensate capacity and control times the following context exists: Equation 1: Q = actual drain performance (liters/ h) Q0 = theoretical drain performance under the assumption that ti increases to infinite as well as tp decreases to 0 (liters/ h). ti = On-time tp = Off-time The On-time (ti) should be chosen so, that the entire condensate collecting point can be emptied during an opening-cycle. Q0 = 100 liters/ h / condensate collecting point V= 0.5 liters from it follows: Example: The Off-time (tp) follows after the actual condensate quantity (= actual condensate drain capacity) and can be determined by using equation 1. Q0 must be determined for each condensate collecting point empirically. The value for Q0, that can appear at most, is put in. Q0 is valve-specifically and is only dependent of the operation pressure (see table 1). Table 1: Theoretical drain performance Q0 of the UFZ dependent to operation pressure Pü. Pü (bars) 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 10 12 14 16 Q0 (liters/ h) 120 170 200 240 270 295 315 340 380 415 450 480 5
Example: The at most condensate quantity amounts to Q = 15 liters/ h, the operating pressure is Pü = 7 bars. The condensate collecting point has a volume of V = 0,2 liters. Result: Q0 = 315 liters/ h (from table 1) With an extra security charge of 0,3 sec., ti emerges = 2,6 s. tp is determined by equation 1: Hint: An extra security charge of approximately 10% should be admitted to the arithmetical Ontime of ti. The setted On-time should not be overstep the arithmetical On-time, but within the bounds of the setting precision it can be negligibly lower. Table 2: Volumes of the condensate collecting points and recommended valve-opening-times for ultrafilter aluminum-housings (ti is valid for Pü = 7 bars, incl. extra security charge).
