ON OFF system operation radiotouch Fluorescent Fixtures ( With Lutron dimming ballasts) Power RadioTouch Controller RadioTouch Controller Power Power and Control Fluorescent Fixtures ( With Lutron dimming ballasts) Power RadioTouch Wallbox Transmitter RadioTouch Tabletop Transmitter(s) By simply pressing buttons on a RadioTouch transmitter, radio frequency signals are sent to RadioTouch Controllers housed in the ceiling. These Controllers then send signals to Lutron dimming ballasts adjusting the light levels and also send signals to optional window treatments and projection screens to adjust window treatments or screen levels. Add up to 16 transmitters in the room to meet your flexibility needs. 1 2 3 4 5 1 RadioTouch tabletop or security mounted 3 One Controller 4 Equip fluorescent lighting fixtures 5 transmitters can with Lutron be placed anywhere 1% Hi-lume, Eco-10 in a room. and TVE 0-10V dimming ballasts. 2 RadioTouch wallbox transmitters can replace any wall switch. is required per lighting zone. The same Controllers are used to control motorized window treatments and projection screens. Lutron dimming ballasts can be installed in existing fixtures or can be ordered pre-installed in a Lutron fixture, and some fixtures by other manufacturers. Call toll-free 1-800-523-9466 2

design steps In All Installations: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Select your dimming ballasts, dimmable fixtures or load interface for each lighting zone. See page 8 and www.lutron.com Select the appropriate Controller. One per lighting zone (dimming, switching, window treatment/screen control). See page 8 Determine the number and style of wallbox transmitters and wallplates you need. See page 9 Select the wireless tabletop transmitter and mounting method. examples The following scenario demonstrates a potential RadioTouch solution for the classroom shown: 1. The classroom has nine, 277V, 2 ft. x 4 ft., T8, three lamp fixtures. The customer would like 1% Hi-lume fluorescent dimming for AV presentations. The appropriate ballast model is FDB-4827-277-3. 2. The room will have front lights and general lights controlled in separate groups. Each group requires an RTA-RX-F Controller. 3. The room requires simple On/Off entrance control for the front and general lights to replace the existing wall switches by the door. Two RTA-WX-2B-WH controls will provide simple control for each group of lights in the room. A two-gang Claro wallplate will provide a clean, screwless look at the wallbox. 4. The presenter would like to have control of each lighting group from the podium. An RTA-TX-2L-B-WH tabletop transmitter provides separate control of two lighting groups, and an RTA-SEC-WH security clip can be added to mount the transmitter to the podium. 5. Determine if the lighting system needs to work with other devices such as occupant sensors, daylight sensors, touchscreens, or window treatments. See pages 8 through 13 to determine the models required for your application. Call toll-free 1-800-523-9466 4

accessories how do i add occupant sensor control? Most 15 and 24 V Occupant Sensors wire directly to any RadioTouch Controller with low voltage, Class 2 wiring for simplified installation Allows you to select Manual On or Automatic On operation Automatically dim or turn Off lights when a room is unoccupied Detect minor motions for example, hand movements of a person seated at a desk or conference room table Occupant Sensor Available Models: To find out about Lutron Occupancy Sensors, see www.lutron.com/occsensors how do i connect to touchscreens? The RadioTouch RS232 interface provides a seamless link between RadioTouch RF Controllers, and RS232 compatible equipment, such as touchscreen systems. Controls up to 10 lighting zones, Sivoia QED Controllable Window Treatments, or contact closure output zones Connects to data link through either a DB-9 plug or terminal blocks Model # RTA-RS232 Operates with a plug-in power supply Can provide feedback to the host device that the RF commands have been sent Operates with 3-wire software flow control or full 7-wire hardware handshaking Call toll-free 1-800-523-9466 14

how do i add daylight sensor control? The MW-PS-WH and MW-FPS-WH daylight sensors wire directly to the RadioTouch Controller with low voltage, Class 2 wiring for simple installation The MW-PS-WH and MW-FPS-WH reduce the available electric light output of the connected RadioTouch Controller, based on the presence of sunlight in the room; in the absence of sunlight the available electric light is increased back to its previous state One MW-PS-WH or MW-FPS-WH is required for each RadioTouch lighting zone that needs to perform daylight harvesting Model # MW-PS-WH Model # MW-FPS-WH what if i want custom labeling? RadioTouch Wallbox and Tabletop Transmitters and Claro Wallplates can be provided with custom laser-engraving. Laser-engraved Claro Wallplates may be added after the system is installed. Tabletop and Wallbox Transmitters must be laserengraved prior to shipment. Contact Lutron Customer Service at 1.888.lutron1 for laser-engraving forms and quotes. Call toll-free 1-800-523-9466 15
