Introduction There is long history for Geosynthetics in Iran since 35 years ago, Prof.Giroud reported a geomembrane canal lining project near Isfahan in Central Iran dated back to 36 years ago. Iranian Geosynthetics society formed for collaborating all geosynthetics activities in Iran since 2006. Iranian Geosynthetics society acted as a core for registering Iran as a chapter in IGS since 2010. Finally, Iran accpeted as IGS chapter in 2013.

ROUGH STIMATION OF GEOSYNTHETICS CONSUMPTION Yearly rough estimation for geosynthetics consumption in 2013 is 20 Mm2 Nonwoven geotextile and Geomembrane has some local manufacturers. Biaxial and Uniaxial Geogrids are producing by one company in Iran. Iran is a large country -78M people -70% under 30years of developing. Different type of material and quantities of geosynthetics needed in different projects.
