ERAH MC Ka The air cooled liquid chillers ERAH MC Ka series are extremely compact units designed to reduce installation spaces and weight. They are designed for outdoor installation and are particularly suitable for air conditioning systems inplants of centralized type, especially for the following sectors: commercial, services and industrial, where it is necessary to have a certain level of cooling capacity and to ensure excellent seasonal performance and low environmental impact. There are available multi compressors versions with 2 independent cooling circuits with R134a refrigerant and a single hydraulic circuit. Electronic regulation with microprocessor controls and manages all the components and parameters of unit running; an internal memory records the conditions of running when an alarm arises, so to be able to show it on the unit board display. Thanks to the various options available, these chillers are particularly versatile and easily adoptable to various plant types. Available configurations. The units are available in chiller version: ERAH MC Ka: STANDARD VERSION Construction features. Thanks to the applied design technology, chillers are able to control with high precision the outlet fluid temperature from the exchanger (user s side), modulating the cooling or heating capacity to the plant s requirement, all automatically managed by the on-board microprocessor. High technology used in design stage, as well as the use of the best components present on market, make the units very reliable and thus able to work for long periods without stop. These units are particularly easy for installation even in limited spaces and easily accessible for ordinary and extraordinary maintenance on the front part of the unit. Frame. The structure is made of base and frame manufactured in high-thickness galvanized steel elements, assembled with stainless steel rivets. All the external galvanized steel surfaces are powder-coated with color RAL7035. The structural elements are fixed firmly making the frame very strong and able to support all the unit components and absorb any mechanical stress due to handling and running of the unit. The technical compartments of electric board and compressors are completely closed and separated from the airflow. The external panels of technical compartments are easily dismountable and positioned laterally assuring total accessibility to the main components. Moreover, the components are arranged inside the structure in a way to make easy and safe necessary service operations while running and also maintenance of the unit. Compressors. Compressors are of semi-hermetic screw type, equipped with capacity steps, motor thermal protection, oil crankcase heater and phase monitor. Compressors lubrication is of forced type without pump. In order to prevent an excessive oil migration to the cooling circuit, the compressors are equipped with an oil separator, in-built in the discharge side. The electric motor is foreseen for start with lower inrush current and, in this case, the unit is equipped with an automatic partial load start device and mechanical interlock of the inrush control switches in order to prevent accidental short circuits (options DS or PW).

Axial fans. The fans, serving external heat-exchange coils, are of axial type, with directly coupled three-phase electrical motor, with IP 54 protection degree, class F, and provided with internal thermal protection to the electrical motor winding. The blades are made of aluminum and their particular profile geometry is designed to minimize the turbulences in the zone of air separation (reducing in this way the sound level and increasing efficiency). Each fan is equipped with suction opening and protection grid against accidents, painted after construction. Condenser heat exchanger. The condenser section is made up of aluminum heat exchangers with micro-channel technology, with proper spacing in order to avoid easy air flow obstructions due to the pollen or other suspended agents. The surface of fins pack can be appropriately protected by removable grids against impacts or hailstorm events. On special request it is possible to make coils with special rust-proof treatment (double layer epoxy coating - Termoguard). The air flow to the exchangers is ensured by the axial fans connected directly to the motors with external rotor with low number of rotations. This flow can be modulated with regard to condensation pressure in order to ensure the correct pressure drop on the thermostatic control device of refrigerant flow to the evaporator. Shell & Tube Exchanger. Shell & Tube Exchangers of dry expansion type with tubes in pure electrolytic copper and shell and plate in carbon steel. The exchanger has a condensate-proof insulation made of close-cell polyurethane foam material and external UV ray-resistant and scratch-proof cover. Inside the shell are suitably placed some plastic corrosion-proof baffles allowing correct water distribution and making the tube bundle particularly strong and vibration-free, as well in case of very high water flow. The exchanger design pressure (water side) is 10 bar. Electronic expansion valve. Electronic expansion valve is of standard type. Lamination capacity of the valve is determined by the difference of existing pressure immediately upstream and downstream of it. By electronic regulation one has a regulation of the optimal point of work with the help of control from specific driver. It allows to improve performance and thus additional energy saving. Electric board and on-board microprocessor. Electric board is built in compliance with norms in force, realized inside a metal compartment integrated inside the cabinet of the unit, protection degree IP54, suitable for outdoor installation and separated from air flow. Inside the electric board with 3 phase and 400 V electric supply, are placed all the components of the control system, power and control electric devices and devices required for motors start. Electric board contains microprocessor electronic board provided with keyboard and display to show available functions, lock-door main switch, anti-condensing electric heater of thermostat, isolation transformer to feed auxiliary circuits, automatic switches, fuses and contactors for compressors and fans motors, terminals for cumulative alarms and remote ON/OFF, control terminal box of spring type, possibility of interface with BMS management systems.

The unit control system is integrated in the electronic microprocessor, installed inside the electric board. The microprocessor consists of electronic control board (complete with terminals for transmission of operating parameters) and an interface board for user (equipped with programming buttons and graphic display for visualization of operation states and alarm messages). Cooling circuits. The cooling equipment of the unit is interconnected through pure copper piping. All the welding joints are made through a braze welding process and in inert ambient with double weld material pass. Each cooling circuit is finally tested with double pressure test. The first test is made before the performance test whereas the second one is made before the unit shipping. During these tests besides the mechanical tightness, a further control of the tightness through leak detection using suitable highly sensible tools is made. In the units with two cooling circuits, the circuits are independent and if there is a problem on one of two circuits, it is anyway granted the operation of the unit at 50% of its nominal characteristics. Each circuit is complete with service valve for refrigerant charging, anti-freeze probe, shut-off valve on liquid line, liquid and humidity sight glass, dehydrating filter, safety valve on refrigerant high pressure side, and thermostatic expansion valve, high and low pressure switches and gauges. Cooling circuits and hydronic diagram for ERAH MC Ka The cooling circuit of vapor compression type is composed of SCREW compressors, electronic thermostatic expansion valve, dehydrating filter, liquid sight glass, safety valve with directed outlet, placed on the condensation side, mechanical safety pressure switches against overloading with manual reset, high and low pressure gauges for refrigerant and shut-off valves on liquid line (on request on discharge and suction of compressor). The compressors are semihermetic SCREW compressors. They can run in single configuration in a totally independent circuit. The new constructive technologies, applied in realization of these compressors, allow them to operate within very extended temperature limits, keeping high values of volumetric efficiency too. On demand, the unit can be equipped with condensing heat recovery exchangers, partial or total (option RP or RT). The last one is activated in parallel to the main air condenser. AVAIBLE OPTIONS A AE BT BF CF Amperometer: Electric device to measure the electrical current absorbed by the unit. Electrical power supply different from standard: Particularly 230 V 3-phase, 460 V 3-phase. Frequency 50/60 Hz Low external air temperature operation: Electronic device of phase cut-off type for the modulating control of the condensing pressure through the variation of the fan rotation speed which allows the functioning of the unit till - 8 C of external air temperature (Alternative to BF). Electronic device, frequency converter type (inverter), for the continuous modulating control of the condensing pressure through the variation of the fan rotation speed, which allows the functioning till -20 C of external air temperature (Alternative to BT). Soundproofed compressors cabinet with material of standard thickness: insulation of compressors by a cabinet with profiles and panels made of powder painted hot dip galvanized sheet, the panels are easy to open thanks to a triangular wrench; coating of cabinet with soundproof material of ridged type and vibration dampers under compressors. (Available only for standard version)

DS Compressor start system Star/Delta: Electric device of close transition type to reduce the inrush current, complete with short circuit safety by mechanical interlock. EC Radial fans with electronic commutated motor: made of high-performance composite material, with external rotor directly coupled to a three phase electronically commutated motor(ec), they have the possibility of a continuous regulation of the speed by means of a 0-10V signal, completely managed by microprocessor. Thanks to more accurate adjustment of air flow, they allow operation of the unit with external temperature till-20 C. (Alternative to BT and BF). GP Condensing coil protection grid:painted metal grid to protect against accidental impacts. GP1 Anti-intrusion grid: metal grid to protect the compressors section against accidental impacts in the absence of soundproofed compressor cabinet. GP2 Anti-intrusion grid with compressor cabinet: metal grid to protect the compressors section against accidental impacts in the presence of soundproofed compressor cabinet. IH RS 485 Serial interface: electronic card to be connected to microprocessor. to allow connection of the units to external supervision systems for remote control and monitoring of the unit. IM Sea wood packing: fumigated sea wooden case and protection bag with hygroscopic salts, suitable for long sea transports. M12 M25 Modulating capacity control: by means of some valves installed on compressors, depending on their quantity, the capacity is modulated from 12%-25% to 100% PA Rubber-type vibration dampers: bell-shaped anti-vibration dampers for isolation of the unit (supplied in mounting kit), made up of the base and bell in galvanized steel and natural rubber mixture. PM Spring-type vibration dampers: spring-type vibration damper supports for insulation of the unit on the base, particularly indicated for installation in difficult and aggressive environments (supplied in mounting kit). Made of two steel plates containing a necessary quantity of harmonic steel springs. PQ Remote display: remote display allows visualization of the temperature values detected by probes, digital alarm inputs, outputs and remote ON/OFF of the unit, modification and programming of the parameters, signaling and visualization of the present alarms. PW Compressor start system Part-Winding: system of step compressors starting, reducing the inrush current absorbed by compressor. RA Anti-freeze heater on evaporator: electrical heater installed inside the evaporator to prevent freezing, equipped with independent thermostat. RD Shut-off valve on discharge side of compressor: used to isolate compressors during service operations. RF System of power factor correction cosfi 0,9: electrical device composed of appropriate condensers for compressors rephasing, ensuring a cosfi value 0,9, so to reduce the reactive power absorption from the electrical network. RH Shut-off valve on suction side: used to isolate compressors during service operations. RL Compressors overload relays: electromechanical protection devices against compressors overload. RP Partial heat recovery: (about 20%) of condensing heat through a refrigerant/water plate exchanger (desuperheater) always in series to he compressors. It is used when it is necessary to recover partially condensing heat for production of sanitary hot water.

RT Total heat recovery: recovery (100%) of condensing heat through refrigerant/water heat exchanger managed in commutation to the condensing air section (introduced in parallel). It is used when it is necessary to recover completely condensing heat for production of sanitary hot water or for heating applications. V Voltmeter: electronic device measuring electrical voltage of the unit power supply. VB Brine Version: unit suitable for working with water temperatures to evaporator below 0 C. A 20 mm evaporator insulation is provided. VS Solenoid valve: electromagnetic solenoid valve on each cooling circuit to cut off the liquid line at compressors stop.
