Introduction To living at Campus Corner Apartments (CCA) at Green River College (English Version)

Dishwasher Make sure you rinse any remaining food off of all plates, bowls or cups before putting them in the dishwasher. Place all cups and bowls upside down to avoid collecting water in them. Do not over fill the dishwasher; never stack items in the dishwasher. Place dishwasher detergent or pods ONLY in the dishwasher door. Never use dishwashing liquid soap or laundry detergent. Close the door to the dishwasher firmly until it clicks. Turn the dial on the front face of the dishwasher until you hear the water running inside. Wait for the dishwasher to be completely finished before opening the door. When the dishwasher is done, open the door and put your clean dishes away in the cupboards. Dishwashing Pods Dishwashing Powder

Stovetop Each dial is used to turn on a different burner. Do not leave the stove unattended while cooking! Never leave anything that can melt directly on or near the burner. Turn on the hood fan to prevent the apartment from getting filled with smoke and making the fire alarm activate. Make sure to turn off all the burners when you are finished cooking. Clean the stove top after cooking. If there is a fire, use a fire extinguisher! Never use water on a stove fire! Then call 911!

Oven Push the BAKE button and then use the temperature arrows to select the temperature your recipe/directions have instructed you to set it at. Wait until the oven has preheated (warmed up) and the timer is up before inserting your food. Always use a cookie sheet or foil under your baking pan/dish to avoid food spilling in the oven. Use the TIME CANCEL button and the arrows to select a time. Start baking with the green START button. The oven does NOT automatically turn off when the time runs out. Make sure to take your food out of the oven and turn OFF the oven when finished. Never leave your apartment when your oven/stove is on.

Microwave When cooking food in the microwave, make sure the container is open even just a little so it may vent. Make sure any plates you use are microwave safe. NEVER place anything metal in the microwave!! Using the numbers on the side of the microwave, set the time you need and press START. Be careful when removing anything from the microwave; it will be very hot. Wipe the microwave clean if any food spills. The automatic settings on the microwave may not be exact, so always make sure you are attentive to the microwave to ensure your food does not burn or is undercooked.

Garbage Disposal Turn on the faucet to allow running water to go down the drain of the garbage disposal. Then turn on the light switch next to the sink, scrape out your food scraps into the garbage disposal. You should hear a loud sound, that is the garbage disposal working to chop up the food waste. CAUTION: Do not put a utensil such as a spoon or fork into the garbage disposal! Wait for the garbage disposal to finish chopping up the food and the sound to become clear. Then turn off the light switch by the sink and then turn off the water. NEVER put your hands in the garbage disposal!! If there is something stuck, please call CCA.

Thermostat Set the dial to your desired temperature. 68-70 degrees Fahrenheit is a comfortable temperature for most people. If the heater does not click on, that is ok! It means the room is already at or above the temperature you previously set. If the heater does turn on, it will automatically shut off when the room reaches the temperature you had set earlier. DO NOT LEAVE A WINDOW OPEN WHEN HEATING THE HOUSE!!!

Washer Machine You have to pay for your laundry. You can use your credit/debit card or coins to pay. If you pay with a card, make sure that you type in the correct washing machine number which is located above the coin slot of your washer. DO NOT over fill the washer machine with clothing!!! Your clothing will not wash properly and you will break the machine an example of a complete load of laundry is: 3 pairs of jeans, 3 shirts, 3 sets of undergarments & a towel. Place your laundry in the machine and place your laundry detergent in the drawer on the left side. Press the appropriate button for the type of clothing you are washing such as: Permanent Pressjeans, blankets, towels or items that may need a stronger wash cycle. Delicates-Use this option if your clothing is lightweight or fragile. Brights- Dress shirts and very colorful clothing. NEVER overfill the detergent drawer. It was cause an overload of soap bubbles. Only use non-chlorine bleach with white clothes. Make sure to time your laundry and remove it promptly from the washer. Do not remove other persons clothing from the washer, even if that washer has finished its cycle. Do not leave laundry detergent containers, laundry baskets or other belongings in the laundry room when if you leave even for a few minutes.

Dryer Machine You can use this machine to dry your clothing/laundry by inserting quarters directly into the dryer to pay for the cycle. Check the lint trap that is located in a little drawer in front of the dryer and clean it. Place your load of laundry inside the dryer and select the proper setting you would like. Check the time on the dryer to make sure you return for your items before the dryer finishes it s cycle. Make sure you remove your laundry promptly. Do not remove other person s laundry from the dryer, even if the cycle has finished. Clean the lint trap once you are finished removing your laundry. Reminder: It is rude to other students living at CCA to not remove your laundry from the washer or dryer in a timely manner!!!
