Craigend Collection Famous for their outstanding diversity of pattern, Scottish design duo Timorous Beasties present their third collection with Brintons, Craigend. Named Craigend for not only the road name of the Glasgow Timorous Beasties studio and birth place of the collection, but also inspired by the Old Gaelic word Creag meaning rock. The collection is inspired by textures and surfaces found on the ground including sand dunes, stone moss and aerial views of landscapes, all reimagined in Brintons special blend of 80% wool and 20% nylon. With Craigend, Timorous Beasties have called upon their fascination with the often brutal beauty of the natural world as well as taking aesthetic inspiration from different crafting methods including paint, ink and fabric. Stone Moss & Moss The inspiration behind Stone Moss & Moss is the surface of ancient stones and trees and the mosses and lichen that thrive there. We wanted to emulate the pathways formed by these self-contained miniature eco-systems that grow under foot. The nickel and malachite colour-ways are inspired by the depths of tones found in mosses. Shot Moiré & Moiré The undulating waves of this carpet have been inspired by a moiré fabric; a silk fabric which has been heated and applied with pressure to give it a rippled appearance. Much like the fabric, these all-over tonal patterns create carpets that look almost ribbed in texture and evoke the waves of water. The vibrant green of Samphire makes a striking statement whereas the dark depths of Ink evoke a moody and atmospheric interior. Shoreline & Estuary Shoreline & Estuary are inspired by the place where the ocean meets the land, emulating the delicate patterns left by the sea as the tide washes over the sand. We worked closely with Brintons on the striking colours of this carpet to give a transparent, multidimensional appearance. Combined with greys, the soft blues of Ocean create a fresh and contemporary colour inspired by the sea, whereas Sand provides a warmer backdrop. Paul Simmons Image: Shoreline/Sand 21

Coast & Shale Taking an aerial view of the coast line and cliff faces which surround it, Coast & Shale create a contemporary effect; colours are inspired by the deep dark blues of the ocean, soft greys of rocks and the bright algae which grows there. Terrain This piece is a design that is inspired by topography and maps. We have created an aerial view of a terrain rich in colour and depth. Passiflora & Linnaeus This design is inspired by the passion flower, a vine flower with a unique floral structure, winding tendrils and a distinctive corona. Also known as passion vines, Passiflora is a species of plant whose winding tendril vines have inspired the structural texture of Linnaeus. Highland & Highland Field Fallen feathers mingle with thistle from our native Scotland to create a carpet within a carpet and evoke the natural world. One design at two widths, Highland works well in a corridor whereas Highland Field creates a beautiful trim effect in a room; colours are kept neutral and tonal allowing the pattern to speak for itself.
