Current Requirements - until July 1 Current without G-Marking G-Marking for List 2 products is mandatory and considered additional regulatory requirements for entry into the Gulf States. For example, to enter KSA today you are required to conduct applicable safety, Energy Efficiency testing to Saudi standards, plus obtain the Regional Certificate of Compliance and necessary Pre-shipment Inspections. 7
Post July 1 Requirements with G- Marking GCC Market Entry with G-Marking As of 1 July, G Marking is an incremental requirement on top of existing regional market entry requirements. The G Mark is affixed to show conformity of Technical Regulation BD-142004-01. 8

G-Marking Tech File Up Close 14
G Mark Technical File Up Close Technical File requirements go far beyond Safety and EMC; requiring Risk, Production Quality Control Plans, Design Calculations, and more. G-Marking involves customers Consultants, Testing, Certification, GMA (RLC) and Government Trade Services (pre-shipment inspections) 15
G-Marking Technical File Requirements Technical File Contents A description of the conformity assessment procedure followed. Third Party test report(s) from a GAC or ILAC accredited lab, or CB test report and Certificate issued within last 3 years General description of electrical equipment operations and product literature Sources & Support Client or Consulting if needed Testing Labs Client or Consulting if needed Detailed description with conceptual design, operation and manufacturing process drawings, BOM's, Sub-assemblies and circuits Completed Application Form Manufacturers risk assessment (FMEA) covering the life cycle capability of the product Manufacturers Declaration of Conformity Manufacturing Production Quality Control Plan Location of manufacturing and storage sites List of standards the product claims to meet Instruction user manual Results of design calculations made, examinations carried out. Client or Consulting if needed Account Manager and Client Client or Consulting if needed Client Client or Consulting if needed Client Client Client or Consulting if needed Client or Consulting if needed 16
Technical File General Description General Description can be accomplished via 1. Product s technical specification sheet and 2. Supporting marketing material. 3. Cut sheets, sales release, product spec 4. Web is a good reference but not a key technical file element 17
Technical File Detailed Description Detailed description with conceptual design covers the how to for making the product, and includes: 1. Operation and manufacturing (build) drawings 2. BOM's 3. Sub-assemblies and circuits build and placement 18
Technical File Risk Assessment Manufacturers risk assessment covering the life cycle capability of the product. Risk Assessment documentation covers: 1. All anticipated hazard modes (mechanical, electrical, operation, misuse, etc.) 2. Likelihood of hazard mode 3. Severity of hazard mode 4. Risk mitigating tactics (warning labels, guards, shrouds, etc.) 5. FMEA is one possible method of proof 6. Risk ranking and management of exposure 19
Technical File Declaration of Conformity Declaration of Conformity Manufacturer s attestation that the product conforms with the Low Voltage Technical Regulations File must be submitted in both English and Arabic If challenged by market surveillance authority, all requested documents may then have to be submitted in Arabic within 20 days of request 20
Technical File Production QC Plan Documented and Controlled methods for maintaining the fabrication, assembly & production of the product and covers: 1. Key aspects to check and how to check them 2. Frequency of checks 3. What to do if the check was not in specification 4. Could be functional / performance / mechanical / safety checks and balances from assembly line or spot reliability tests 5. This is NOT an ISO certificate! 6. There are many paths to proof points 21
G-Marking Workflow 22
G-Marking Workflow and Check Down 23
G-Marking Workflow and Check Down START-TO-FINISH 10-30 BUSINESS DAYS 24
In Closing G Mark Type Certificate is the umbrella for all products defined under list (2). For certain products, energy performance testing under the national regulations will still apply, such as KUCAS / SASO performance testing will be the norm. Intertek also provides needed PSI and CoC required for imports into KSA and Kuwait. Intertek is positioned to deliver G-Marking services locally wherever your business requires. 25
