How to choose the best stove? Before selecting your stove, it is very important that you clearly identify what your needs are: What are the dimensions of your house (W x D x H)? How many floors does the house have (including basement)? What is the level of insulation? What is the space available to install your unit? We are talking about "zone" heating, not central heating. The room where the heater is located and the rooms directly above will always reach higher temperatures than the rooms farther away from the unit. It is prudent to buy a heater with a capacity that is slightly higher than the minimum capacity you need. The image below shows how to calculate the recommended heating area that we should consider to select the right stove. For example, on the image, the stove is installed in the basement. The calculation is then the entire square footage of the basement plus half the square footage of the first floor and 25% of the second floor. Thus, the calculation would be 800 + 400 + 200 = 1, 400sq. ft., which means that a unit which has a recommended heating area up to 1,600-1,800 sq. ft. would be a good fit. As another example, if the stove was installed on the first floor, the calculation would be: 800 + 400 = 1,200 sq. ft. However, since the upper level is usually mostly bedrooms, selecting a unit with a higher recommend heating area than 1,200 sq.ft. would not be necessary.

EPA Certified heaters release up to 90% less particles into the atmosphere, which makes wood a renewable and clean source of heat. By choosing an EPA certified stove, you will help the environment and reduce your wood/pellet consumption by up to 30%. Combustion technology The ECO-65 features the bottom-feed combustion technology. Wood pellets are fed by the auger into the burning pot. This is a very silent process. The new pellets then push the ashes down in the ash pan. This prevents pellet piles in the burning pot and eases the maintenance. Combo The ECO-65 combo includes: - One Drolet pellet stove (DP00060), and - One 4" Vortex pellet vent basement kit (VOPKB04 including one stove adapter, one 3"Ø to 4"Ø increaser stove adapter, two tees with cap, four pipe lengths: 12", 18", 24" and 36", one slip (adjustable section) - 9"L, two 90 elbows, one wall pass-thru, two wall supports and one jet cap)

Dimensions

Installation requirements This stove must be connected to a pellet vent system complying with the requirements for Pellet Vent in the standards UL 103, UL 641, ULC S629M, CAN/ULC S609 and ULC/ORD C441 or to a code-approved masonry chimney with a stainless steel flue liner. The following minimum clearance to combustible material must be respected. For complete information, please consult the owner manual. For any questions regarding your installation, please contact our Customer Service team by phone at 1 418-908-8002, or by email at tech@sbi-international.com. FAQ What is the difference between the top-feed and bottom-feed combustion technology? The Edison features the bottom-feed combustion technology. There are 2 augers in this unit: a hopper auger and a burning pot auger. Wood pellets are fed by the burning pot auger into the burning pot. This is a very silent process. The new pellets then push the ashes down in the ash pan. This prevents pellet piles in the burning pot and eases the maintenance. With a top-feed combustion technology, pellets are dropped down into the burning put. The homeowner can hear the pellets falling. Then, the ashes stay in the pot until the operator removes the ashes to put them in the ash pan. This technology requires more maintenance of the burning pot.

Is it possible to reduce the minimum clearances to combustible materials? You may decrease the clearances by installing heat radiation shields between the walls or the ceiling and the heater. These heat radiation shields must be installed permanently, and can include sheet metal, a rigid non-combustible sheet or a masonry wall. Can I burn corn in my pellet appliance? Your appliance is not designed to burn corn. The combustion of corn requires mechanical and electronic adjustments. Without those adjustments, corn combustion may cause the appliance to overheat, malfunction, or wear out prematurely. Consult your owner s manuals for the type of pelletized fuel that may be used with your appliance. Do I need to connect a fresh air intake for my pellet stove? A fresh air intake is not mandatory for your pellet stove, unless the unit is installed in a mobile home or if the local building code or the manufacturer requires it. Pellet stoves use a mechanical draft. Combustion air is forced into the unit using combustion and/or exhaust motors. In the case of a very air-tight house, it may be difficult to replace the combustion air expulsed outside the residence. This could lead to a poor combustion. In this case, the installation of a fresh air intake is strongly recommended. However, if the stove is installed in an open room, in a house that is more or less air-tight, combustion air will normally be easily replaced. In this case, the installation of a fresh air intake is not required. It must however be noted that a fresh air intake, even if it is not mandatory, will always provide the advantage of better balancing the house with regards to combustion air.
