The High Voltage board adapts the compressor run time between defrosts to achieve optimum defrost intervals by monitoring the compressor run time and length the defrost heater is on. After initial power up, defrost intervals are 6 hr. (initial), 6 hr. (minimum), 72 hr. (maximum). Defrost is delayed for 4 min. after the control cycles compressor off. Optimum defrost is 15 minutes. Each additional minute the defrost thermostat remains closed, 1 hr. is subtracted from the previous defrost interval. Each minute the thermostat opens prior to optimum defrost, it extends the next defrost interval 1 hr. High Voltage board will terminate defrost at 30 minutes even if defrost thermostat has not opened and will reset the defrost interval to the 6 hr. minimum setting, A 6 minute delay occurs after defrost thermostat opens before compressor is allowed to run. If defrost thermostat opens within 30 seconds of beginning of defrost, delay is by passed. Six hours of continuous compressor run will initiate a defrost, and defrost interval re-sets to 6 hours. Power up:if defrost thermostat is open, compressor is powered. If defrost thermostat is closed, defrost is powered. To Force or Terminate defrost: Toggle freezer door light switch 5 times within 6 sec If defrost terminator is open, a forced defrost will not occur until the defrost terminator closes. Dispenser Operation Dispenser Operation The water and ice dispensing functions work independently of each other. To dispense water press the water button, to dispense ice press, the cubed button for cubed ice, press the crushed button for crushed ice. Auto Light Light activates at full power when dispensing ice or water. A sensor activates light at half-power when light level around refrigerator is low. Activate or deactivate sensor by pushing ON / OFF button located on control façade. Green light above ON / OFF button indicates sensor is active. Dispenser Lock Prevents operation of water and ice dispensers. To activate or deactivate lock, press and hold LOCK / UNLOCK button for 3 seconds. Green light above button indicates dispenser lock. If auger motor or water valves not hooked up or there is an open circuit to either of these components, then the control will automatically lock the dispenser out. Automatic Lock Out Shuts down both ice and water mechanisms of dispenser when either mechanism has run continuously for approximately 3 minutes. To return power to dispenser, press and hold DISPENSER LOCK for 3 seconds. Auger motor shuts off automatically after 3 minutes of continuous operation. After about 3 minutes in shut-off state, auger motor resets automatically. Filter Status Light This feature reminds users to replace water filter after 12 months have passed or after 500 gallons of water are filtered, whichever happens first. NOTE: Filter status light turns red after 12 months have passed or after 500 gallons of water are dispensed, even if bypass is installed and unit is used without filter cartridge. Green light indicates filter in good condition. Red light indicates filter replacement needed. To turn off filter status light press auto light and water pushbuttons. Filter Status Light Reset Once filter light turns red, it remains red until reset. To reset filter indicator, press both UNLOCK / LOCK and WATER pushbuttons simultaneously and hold for 4 seconds. Make sure green light flashes 3 times when indicator resets. Sabbath Mode This mode is intended to deactivate power to the LED and dispenser lights, while allowing the controls to remain operational. To activate Sabbath Mode: Press and hold both LOCK / UNLOCK and Light ON / OFF buttons simultaneously for 3 to 4 seconds, the LED and dispenser lights will turn off. Dispenser light will not activate during dispensing while in this mode. To deactivate Sabbath Mode: Press and hold both LOCK / UNLOCK and Light ON / OFF buttons simultaneously for 3 to 4 seconds. After 3 to 4 seconds the LED and dispenser lights will activate. Hidden Lockout for Upper Keypad The purpose of this mode is to prevent tampering with the upper set of dispenser controls. This includes the Display ON / OFF, Max Freeze, Max Cool, Vacation Mode and Temperature Set functions. To activate Hidden Lockout: Press the LOCK / UNLOCK and Display ON / OFF buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. To reactivate Hidden Lockout: Press the LOCK / UNLOCK and Display Light ON / OFF buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. Temperature Conversion Mode This mode is available to change the Temperature Display between Fahrenheit and Celsius. To change temperature reading: Press the display ON / OFF and Freezer Temp Set Increase button simultaneously for 3 seconds. Vacation Mode This key if enabled causes less frequent defrost cycles. This conserves energy. Pressing the Vacation mode key will activate the Vacation mode. Opening either door or pressing the Vacation key again until LED is not illuminated will deactivate the Vacation mode. Defrost after exiting Vacation mode will occur according to previous defrost history prior to being put in Vacation mode. May 2002 2 16021724 May 2002 3 16021724

If line voltage is present, then replace auger motor. Otherwise, continue determination by using the same test procedure as NEITHER ICE NOR WATER EVER DISPENSES. If the reading is 0 VDC, then the dispenser switch is closed in error. Troubleshoot the pad assembly and switch. Repair or replace as necessary. Check voltage at JP1-9 and JP1-10 If line voltage is read at either point, and then replace the high volt board. Dispenser Troubleshooting May 2002 6 16021724 May 2002 7 16021724 Water flowing continuously without pressing the dispensing button. Cannot turn off the door alarm and the display says one of the doors is open all the time. Control not responding to keyboard pad presses Water valve stuck open. Check voltage at water valve. If line voltage is not present at the valve, then change water valve. Dispensing switch stuck closed Failed or improperly adjusted door or the door switch. Failed wiring harness or connection to the power board. Keyboard tail not fully inserted into control board header. Lock and hidden lock features are activated. Open circuit in communication link Check across pins 1 to 4 of the dispenser connector (JP3) on the low volt board. Without pressing dispenser switch the voltage should be 0.5 VDC. Open the door signaled as being open. Manually close the door switch. Does the alarm stop? If so, then check the door adjustment. Otherwise go to the next frame below. Power down the unit. Unplug the JP1 connector from the board. Return power to the unit. Disconnect connector and measure voltage across pin 7 (Refrigerator door) or pin 8 (Freezer door) in the harness connector. For refrigerator side, with door closed, line voltage should be present. For freezer side, line voltage should be present when the door is open. Reinstall the keyboard tail into the control board and retest. If the control does not respond to keyboard pad presses then test the keyboard as defined above. De-active all lock features and try pressing keypad again. Take voltage reading across pins 2 to 4 and pins 1 to 3 of the JP4 connector on Low Volt Board. The voltage reading across 2 to 4 should be 4-5 VDC. The voltage reading across pins 1 to 3 should be 18-24 VDC. Otherwise go to the frame below. If reading is 0 VDC, then the switch is closed in error. Troubleshoot the pad assembly or Front Fill button and switch. Repair or replace as necessary. If voltage measures ok, then replace the replace the high volt board. Adjust door, door switch or replace the door switch as needed to turn off the alarm. If the voltage levels are correct, then replace the High volt board. Otherwise determine source of open by performing additional continuity checks with the unit powered off. Replace the keyboard if it fails the test. Otherwise go to frame below. Replace the keyboard if it fails the test. Otherwise replace the control board. If voltage is not correct, then verify same voltage levels on JP5 connector of the High volt board. If voltage level is correct at High volt board, but not at low volt board, then check continuity in circuit. If voltage levels are correct at both boards, then replace low volt board. Otherwise replace high volt board. Electronic notes: 1) There is a 60 second delay upon power up before the refrigeration system components will be energized. 2) If the water valve or auger motor connections are not made (similar to open circuit) the control will Lock out the dispenser functions (Lock LED will also illuminate). 3) Under normal run conditions the damper motor operation will suspend when either door is open. The evaporator motor will turn off if the freezer door is open. 4) Fault code ES in the display represents shorted Thermistor. Fault code EO in the display represents open Thermistor. Error in display represents open communication link between boards. Service Mode The Service Mode is used for manual and automated testing of the control and its outputs through internal voltage checks. It will also act as the platform in which to update various control variables and to change calibration levels. Qualified service technicians should use the service mode only. General To turn unit into the OFF position press the raise Freezer Temperature Arrow Key until 5 is in the display and press Confirm Settings Key. Press the raise Freezer Temperature Arrow Key until OFF is in the display and press Confirm Settings Key. Note Unit must be in OFF setting to enter Service Mode. To enter the Service Mode press the Alarm Off and Vacation key simultaneously for 5 seconds. Then press the Alarm Off and Auto Light key simultaneously for an additional 5 seconds. There are levels to the Service Mode. Mode A and Mode B. Mode A is for system checks and Mode B is for calibration changes. In each mode, there are a number of options to choose from see below. To enter or exit from any option, press the Confirm Settings Key. The Water and Main Actuator switches will not work. The Mode is displayed in the Freezer Display section and is controlled by the Freezer Temperature Set keys. The Option is displayed in the Refrigerator Display section and is controlled by the Refrigerator Temperature Set keys. The Left most character display in the Freezer Temperature Display section contains the character S to signify that the user is in the Service Mode.
