FEATURED SPEAKERS Richard Roberts, Honeywell Security and Fire Richard Roberts is Industry Affairs Manager at Honeywell Security and Fire with over 30 years in the fire alarm and life safety markets. His experience spans the installation, sales, and the development of products/systems. Currently, Mr. Roberts is a member of eight NFPA Technical Committees, member of several ICC Fire Code Action Committee (FCAC) Working Groups and a member of several Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Standards Technical Panel (STP). He serves on the Board of Directors for the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA), Center for Campus Fire Safety (CCFS) and is the Chair of NEMA s Building Codes Committee. Joe Siderowicz. After Market Consulting Joe started his career with Honeywell Building Services Division as a Service Sales Representative and went on to hold national service marketing positions. At Simplex, he built the fire alarm service sales program and served as VP & GM of the Service Division and VP of Corporate Marketing. Joe started AfterMarket Consulting in 2000 to help fire alarm, sprinkler, and security distributors and manufacturers grow their service revenue. His client list includes over one hundred and fifty independent life safety firms. He is the author of Service is Not a Product The Experts Guide to Selling Service Agreements. Larry Rietz, Jensen Hughes Larry Rietz is a NICET Level IV certified Fire Alarm designer with over 22 years of life safety industry experience. After working for a large Fire Alarm manufacturer and service provider, he is now Director of the Denver Office for Jensen Hughes. He has designed and analyzed several large emergency communication systems for transportation, entertainment, and higher education campuses and is the Project Manager for the Denver International Airport Public Safety Notification Upgrade project. Larry currently serves on the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA) Board of Directors, Co-Chair of the AFAA Codes and Standards Committee, on the Technical Committee (Principal) for NFPA 1616 Standard on Mass Evacuation, Sheltering and Reentry, and on the Technical Committee (Alternate) for NFPA 72 Chapter 24 (SIG-ECS). Art Black, City of Carmel Fire Department Art began his fire service career as a Firefighter/EMT with the Carmel-by-the-Sea Fire Department in 1975. In 1987 he was named Fire Marshal, where he completely reorganized the Fire Prevention Bureau. Art retired in 1993, at which time he founded Carmel Fire Protection Associates in order to contract to Carmel-by-the-Sea and other local jurisdictions as a fire protection consultant.
