The Mitsubishi Electric Advantage Advanced Energy Efficient Technologies Power Inverter Mitsubishi Electric Power Inverter Systems are designed to provide powerful performance in a compact, unobtrusive design. With a wide range of capacities and design combinations to suit any environment, Power Inverter Systems are the perfect solution for domestic and commercial installations. Exceptional energy efficient heating and cooling is achieved through a number of advanced technologies. PUHZ-RP71 PUHZ-RP100/125/140/170/200 Designed for Efficiency Side-flow Outdoor Units Outdoor units with operating capacities of up to 20kW have been unified to a side-flow configuration; providing greater versatility in installation locations. The compact footprint of these outdoor units also allows them to be used for applications requiring large capacity heating and cooling, where plant space is limited. Longer Maximum Piping Length As a result of increasing the volume of refrigerant, piping length has been increased to a maximum of 75m, expanding the range of layout possibilities for unit installation. Maximum Piping Length Max. Height Difference Max. Piping Length RP71 30m 50m RP100/125/140/170/200 30m 75m Highly Efficient Scroll Compressor Frame Fixed scroll Cradle scroll Thrust gas power: minimum Leaking loss: minimum Thrust friction loss: minimum Secondary back-pressure chamber minimises thrust friction loss. Primary back-pressure chamber minimises leaking loss. PUHZ-RP100~200 Higher efficiency has been achieved by adding a frame compliance mechanism to the DC scroll compressor. The mechanism allows movement in the axial direction of the frame supporting the cradle scroll, thereby greatly reducing the leakage and friction loss, and ensuring extremely high efficiency at all speeds. 4

Highly Efficient Fan and Grille The shape of the fan and grille in the Power Inverter outdoor units have been redesigned; helping to increase airflow capacity and create a more efficient heat exchange whilst maintaining the same operating noise level. Outdoor Unit Fan Opening Increased to 550mm (PUHZ-RP100~200) Airflow capacity has been increased while maintaining the same fan rotation speed. Highly Efficient Heat Exchanger The density and surface area of the Power Inverter heat exchangers has been increased, leading to an improvement in overall heat exchange efficiency. Heat Exchange Surface Area Increased (PUHZ-RP100~200) By extending the heat exchanger horizontally the total heat exchange surface area is increased, resulting in greater overall heat exchange. Increase in heat exchanger surface area Opening increased from 490 to 550mm in diameter Heat exchanger <PUHZ RP-HA> Heat exchanger <PUHZ RP-KA> Redesigned Grille Shape (PUHZ-RP100~200) The air outlet grille shape has been redesigned to reduce pressure loss, in turn improving heat exchange performance. Heat Interchanger (HIC) Added (PUHZ-RP140) An HIC circuit has been added to improve energy efficiency in cooling operation. Liquid refrigerant is rerouted, transformed into a gas state, and injected back into the system to increase the overall pressure of refrigerant being sent to the compressor, resulting in reduced loading on the compressor and an overall increase in efficiency. Inflexed Fan (PUHZ-RP100~200) The fan has been designed with a rear edge that suppresses wind turbulence and improves ventilation; increasing fan operation efficiency. PAC-ZC40(H/L)-E 6

Controller Operation Functions (PAR-31/PAR-32 & PAC-ZC only) Energy Saving Schedule Precise control of power consumption (PAR-31/PAR-32) Incorporating advanced Energy Saving Scheduling, the PAR-31/PAR-32 7-Day Controller allows complete energy management optimisation. System capacity can be adjusted (to 0, 50, 60, 70, 80 or 90% of maximum capacity) to reduce total energy consumption. Additionally, up to 4 start/finish patterns can be set per day to ensure optimal energy efficiency without compromising comfort. Setting Pattern Example Start Time Finish Time Adjusted Capacity Level 8:15 > 12:00 80% 12:00 > 13:00 50% 13:00 > 17:00 90% 17:00 > 21:00 50% Temperature Range Restriction Prevents overheating/overcooling Using a temperature that is 1 C lower/higher for heating/ cooling can result in a 10% reduction in power consumption.* Temperature Range Restriction limits the maximum and minimum temperature settings, contributing to the prevention of overheating/overcooling. *In-house calculations. Setting example of minimum temp in 25 C Cooling/Dry 19 C 30 C Auto-Return Possible temperature range setting 25 C 30 C Lower temperature limit Lower temperatures To prevent excessive cooling cannot be selected Recommended for office, restaurant applications. Prevents wasteful operation by automatically returning to the pre-set temperature after specified operating time After adjusting the temperature for initial heating in winter or cooling in summer, it is easy to forget to return the temperature setting to its original value. The Auto-Return Function automatically resets the temperature back to the original setting after a specified period of time, preventing overheating/overcooling. The Auto-Return activation time can be set in 10-minute units, in a range between 30 and 120 minutes. Auto-Return cannot be used when Temperature Range Restriction is in use. Night Setback Keep desired room temperatures automatically This function monitors the room temperature and automatically activates Heating Mode when the temperature drops below the pre-set minimal temperature setting. It has the same function for cooling, automatically activating Cooling Mode when the temperature rises above the pre-set maximum temperature setting. Operation Lock Fixed temperature setting promotes energy savings In addition to operation start/stop, the operation mode, temperature setting and airflow direction can be locked. Unwanted adjustment of temperature settings is prevented and an appropriate temperature is constantly maintained, leading to energy savings. This feature is also useful in preventing erroneous operation or tampering. Recommended for office, school, halls, hospital and computer server applications. Auto-Off Timer Turns heating/cooling off automatically after pre-set time elapses When using the Auto-Off Timer, if you forget to turn the unit off, operation stops automatically after the preset time elapses, preventing wasteful operation. The Auto-Off Timer can be set in 10 minute units, in a range between 30 minutes and 4 hours. This eliminates any anxiety about forgetting to turn the unit off. Recommended for meeting room and changing room applications. Weekly Timer Set up to 8 on/off patterns per day including temperature control. Weekly Timer cannot be used when On/Off Timer is in use. Setting Example (restaurant in summer time) Temperature setting ( C) 26 25 24 23 22 Preparation 1 Busy hours Opening time 2 4 Lunch time 3 Set to lower temperature Dinner time 5 8-pattern setting Off-peak hours Set to higher temperature Closing time 0 10 12 14 16 18 20 22 24 Time (hr) Necessary to change temperature settings for cooling/heating times. *Joint research conducted with Japan Facility Solutions, Inc. 6 7 8 7

Advanced Feature 3D i-see Sensor - PLA Series 360 Temperature Monitoring The 3D i-see Sensor is an infrared-based sensor that monitors floor-level temperatures throughout the room. The 3D i-see Sensor works to ensure even temperature distribution and maximise room comfort through 360 sensing that covers the whole floor space; giving a more accurate and even temperature reading and improving energy efficiency. 360 Floor-level temperature measured throughout the room. 3D i-see Sensor Operation The 3D i-see Sensor rotates 90 every two minutes*, taking 5-second measurements at each position to accurately determine floor-level temperatures on all sides of the room. The 3D i-see Sensor calculates the temperature by measuring the infrared rays emanating from the walls and floors. 5 sec measurement 90 rotation 5 sec measurement 90 rotation 5 sec measurement 90 rotation 5 sec measurement * The sensor rotates 360 once every two minutes when there is significant temperature disparity and once every five minutes when a stable, even temperature has been reached. 3D i-see Sensor - SLZ Series Detects number of people The 3D i-see Sensor detects the number of people in the room and adjusts the power accordingly. This makes automatic power-saving operation possible in places where the number of people changes frequently. Additionally, when the area is continuously unoccupied, the system switches to a more enhanced power-saving mode. Depending on the setting, it can also stop the operation. Detects people s position Once a person is detected, the angle of the vane is automatically adjusted. Each vane can be independently set by the user to Direct Airflow or Indirect Airflow. Highly accurate occupancy detection A total of eight sensors rotate a full 360, in 3-minute intervals. In addition to detecting human body temperature, the 3D i-see Sensor detects people s positions and the number of people. 22
