A Perfect Ending By Amazon Customer This book had a perfect ending. It was my second favorite in the series all the way up to the end at which point it became my first. It was one of those books that just seemed to end at the perfect point. Nothing else needed to be said the story was done and it felt that way. Of course you still wanted some more, but you wanted more of something different because the book didn't tease you and it didn't drag it's feet to the ended where for the last hour of reading your just waiting for it to be over. Well done Clavell By Amazon Customer One of my favorite books of all time. The plot grabs you from the get go and you are immersed in a world of foreign beauty. I read Shogun, another excellent book by James Clavell, before I did Tai Pan. I didn't think it would be possible to outdo himself after the masterpiece that Shogun is, but he managed to with Tai Pan. Wonderful book but the Kindle edition is full of errors By Bryan Loofbourrow I have to give this amazing book 5 stars for its grand and deep story and compelling characters. I've read it many times and it always satisfies. And it's true to the spirit of Hong Kong, which I've visited many times. I'm grateful to have Tai Pan available on the Kindle. But it appears to have been a hasty transcription -- perhaps an optical scan with little follow-up editing. I'm about 2/3 of the way through, and I've spotted what must be at least 100 errors, very obvious ones that a cursory pass through should have picked up. Practically any apostrophe is fair game for being combined with the character it adjoins to form a different letter not intended by the author. That's why I suspect an optical scan.
