Project Initiation Notification System (PINS) Standards Action - May 11, 2007 - Page 12 of 22 Pages ANSI Procedures require notification of ANSI by ANSI-accredited standards developers (ASD) of the initiation and scope of activities expected to result in new or revised American National Standards (ANS). Early notification of activity intended to reaffirm or withdraw an ANS and in some instances a PINS related to a national adoption is optional. The mechanism by which such notification is given is referred to as the PINS process. For additional information, see clause 2.4 of the ANSI Essential Requirements: Due Process Requirements for American National Standards. Following is a list of proposed actions and new ANS that have been received recently from ASDs. Please also review the section in Standards Action entitled "American National Standards Maintained Under Continuous Maintenance" for additional or comparable information with regard to standards maintained under the continuous maintenance option. To view information about additional standards for which a PINS has been submitted and to search approved ANS, please visit www.nssn.org, which is a database of standards information. Note that this database is not exhaustive. Directly and materially affected interests wishing to receive more information or to submit comments are requested to contact the standards developer directly within 30 days of the publication of this announcement. Suite 300 Washington, DC 20005 Contact: David Johnston Fax: (202) 371-0181 E-mail: djohnston@boma.org BSR/BOMA Z65.2-200x, Standard Methods for Measuring Floor Area in Industrial Buildings (new standard) Stakeholders: Building owners, industrial and office realtors, building managers, facilities managers. Project Need: In the late 1990s, the real estate industry recognized the need for a standard that fairly accounts and allocates floor area in industrial buildings. This project will fulfill this vital need for the real estate industry. The completed standard will be used to measure floor area on both existing and new industrial buildings. The standard will allow comparison of values on the basis of generally agreed upon methods of measurement for industrial buildings. The standard will take a building-wide approach to measurement, fairly accounting for the allocation of space that benefit all tenants while providing a common basis for the measurement of floor area in a tenant area. Project Need: To create biometric application profile standards that define a set of base standards and the criteria for applying those standards in applications of biometrics for e-authentication. Supports the deployment of biometric technologies in e-authentication applications. The proposed standard s goals are interoperability, data interchange, and security for e-authentication systems based on a variety of authentication architectural configurations with differing storage, matching and transmission characteristics. BSR/INCITS Project 1861-D-200x, Information technology - Fibre Channel - Framing and Signaling - 3 (FC-FS-3) (new standard) Stakeholders: Fibre channel and network markets. Project Need: To describe any changes needed to Fibre Channel Framing and Signaling owing to changes to speed, new upper level protocols, and new functions. This project proposal recommends the development of a set of technical additions and clarifications to ANSI INCITS 424:2006, Fibre Channel - Framing and Signaling - 2 (FC-FS-2). Included within this scope are such functions as: (a) Inclusion of FC-FS-2-A!; (b) Enhancements to support new physical layer technologies; (c) Enhancements to support Inter-Fabric Routing; (d) Clarification of BB_Credit Recovery; and (e) Any other item as deemed necessary during the development.

Standards Action - May 11, 2007 - Page 14 of 22 Pages American National Standards Maintained Under Continuous Maintenance The ANSI Essential Requirements: Due Process Requirements for American National Standards provide two options for the maintenance of American National Standards (ANS): periodic maintenance (see clause 4.7.1) and continuous maintenance (see clause 4.7.2). Continuous maintenance is defined as follows: The standard shall be maintained by an accredited standards developer. A documented program for periodic publication of revisions shall be established by the standards developer. Processing of these revisions shall be in accordance with these procedures.
