The design of this radiator, which has a projection of only 16 millimetres, has only been made possible by the development of novel design elements and materials. The combination of a glossy and a matt surface allows the technology behind it to shine through: an electrically operated infrared heating element made of glass is located in the middle of the designer radiator, the rapid reaction time of which enables drying or warming of towels in the shortest time possible. The surrounding designer radiator is connected to the central heating and provides cosy warmth in the room. RUNTAL FOLIO HYBRID KING & MIRANDA Englishman Perry A. King and Spaniard Santiago Miranda rank amongst the most prominent names on the international design scene. Since founding their own studio, King-Miranda Associati, in Milan in 1976, they have worked for an international clientèle as architects, interior designers and product designers. Their distinctive style combines functional and technological innovation with cultural and emotional connotations. King & Miranda are the authors of numerous publications, jurors in international design competitions and active participants in research and teaching. In 2000, Perry A. King was presented with the Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) award by the Royal Society of Arts, London. In 1989, Santiago Miranda was awarded the Premio Nacional de Diseño Español (Spanish National Design Award) and, in 1995, the Premio Andalucia de Diseño (Andalusian Design Award). In addition to the RUNTAL FOLIO HYBRID designer radiator, the duo have designed and implemented a number of other products for the Zehnder Group, such as the RUNTAL FOLIO and RUNTAL COSMOPOLITAN. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Due to the combination of two designer radiators, the RUNTAL FOLIO HYBRID is both energy-saving and flexible, making it practical throughout the whole year: the hot water radiator ensures evenly heated rooms while the electrically operated infrared heating element, which can be switched on separately, enables both short-term drying and pre-warming of towels even in the summer months. The timer function can be used to control the designer radiator in three different settings: 30, 60 or 90 minutes. RUNTAL FOLIO HYBRID is designed not only for connecting to the central heating but also for electric operation. Additional convenience is provided by a towel rail that lends the designer radiator a practical aspect. The designer radiator is available in white and black. DESIGN The designer radiator features two technically different heating systems. The external part is connected to the central heating. The core of this system is a copper heating coil (1) embedded in a honeycomb structure made of aluminium (2) which is enclosed by expanded natural graphite (3). The natural graphite used is an innovative material with ideal properties such as high thermal conductivity, low density and resistance to ageing. The inner part of the designer radiator consists of a heating foil (4) between two thin glass plates (5) of 4 mm each. Due to this special, newly developed design and innovative production technology, Runtal has succeeded in developing this very slim and ultralight designer radiator without any compromises in terms of performance.
