Civil/Cellular Services Wireless infrastructure such as tower/antenna structures, shelters, and cabinets combined with ever-evolving technological platforms such as GSM, UMTS, WiMAX, and LTE are the foundation upon which cellular communications are built. Though all sites present basic infrastructure needs in terms of antenna structures, antennas, transmission lines, and equipment, every site presents its own unique challenges. CCTV Systems Ethics Network CCTV installations are designed and installed using the very latest technology. When deciding if you require a CCTV System, the decision should not be taken lightly and managing your system needs a lot of thought. You need to think through how the images are going to be used. Perhaps you will record everything and just check the recordings when you need to, for example when you expect an offence has taken place. But the more you record, and the longer you keep the recordings for, the more equipment you will require
` The maximum should be 31 days, but you may decide that 24 hours is enough to meet your needs, the latter may be the case where you are monitoring the CCTV very closely and you are aware of what is going on, or where there is very little movement, for example if it is pointing at an exit and you would be likely to know very quickly whether it had been used or not. In some cases though you may not be aware that a crime has taken place until after the event, for example, a theft may only become apparent at the fortnightly stock take, or a fraud when the accounts are checked, in this case you may feel that a longer retention period is necessary. CCTV is only as good as the person monitoring it, so the decision needs to be made as to whether there is a need for constant monitoring, or whether the system will be used as an events recorder. If there is to be constant monitoring, then a robust procedure needs to be introduced for the people monitoring the system on expectations and reactions should an event be captured. If the system is to be used as an events recorder then installing a digital recording system is advised for ease of use. It is also very important to consider lighting levels (or using infra-red cameras which can 'see' in the dark) and remember bad lighting can create a glare that renders the image useless. The fact of the matter is that there is no shortcut to installing a quality system; you will require a good risk assessment and an appropriate specification to meet any needs that are identified. The best way of achieving the best possible outcome is to have a survey carried out. You will also have to take on board that if the cameras are to be looking over public areas then you must abide by the Data Protection Act and a link is provided to enable you to download the requirements.
