Plants form a sturdy mound of foliage, topped with lily-like blooms. This large specimen has big blue-green leaves with a downward cup shaped. HAS A HEIGHT OF 36 AND 40 WIDE. Pale lavender flowers appear in June. Will tolerate some direct sun. Hosta go completely dormant in the fall, and the dying foliage can be removed any time before mid spring. SUM AND SUBSTANCE: A botanical giant, 'Sum and Substance' averages 36 inches tall by 70 inches wide, sometimes more. Near-white lilac blooms borne on leaning scapes 36 inches long appear from late July through mid-august. AVAILABLE IN 1GAL ONLY $7.50 RHINELAND ASTILBE: The flowers contrast wonderfully with the glossy foliage. Astilbe Rheinland blooms in midsummer and is 24 tall and has a plant width of 18. It is most successfully grown in a shady area, but can tolerate some morning sun. A moist, well-drained area is a key feature for growing a healthy plant. In order to keep Astilbe looking good for the next year, do not cut it back in the winter, (the old foliage helps protect the plant from winter damage), but prune in early spring. Astilbe is considered to be deer resistant and will attract hummingbirds. Rheinland Astilbe can be used as cut flowers to make grand bouquets. Plant this showy perennial for beautiful summer color in shady areas. You will be delighted to see how this plant forms a graceful perennial border, or add to shade gardens with hosta s and ferns! AVAILABLE IN 1 GAL ONLY $7.50

AUTUMN FIRE SEDUM: An improvement on a classic upright sedum with large flat flower heads, this selection holds up much longer into fall than 'Autumn Joy.' Plants are easy in almost all soils and grow in full sun to part shade. Deciduous, glaucous, waxy bluegreen stems and leaves with alternate leaves on succulent stems. Plants go from light rose to bright red to deep bronze red in color as fall turns into winter. 18-24 inch tall and 20-30 inches wide. Very showy in late fall leave the stems on over winter and they look great in the snow, keeping a rusty red color. Butterflies and bumblebees love this plant. Plants are useful in the border, rock garden, or as a filler in that odd spot. Mix in with 'Stella De Ora' daylilies and garden phlox. Plants are long lived and can grow into very large clumps. Available in quarts $3.50 LUPINS: The colourful spikes of Lupines are an unforgettable sight in the early summer border. Plants grow best in a deep, rich soil, slightly on the acidic side. This compact mixture produces flowers in nearly every shade of the rainbow, including white, pink, yellow, red and deep blue. As these are biennial or short-lived perennials, allow some plants to set seed for future generations. Available in quarts $3.50

Red And White Columbine: will grow to be about 12 inches tall at maturity extending to 16 inches tall with the flowers, with a spread of 12 inches. Its foliage tends to remain dense right to the ground, not requiring facer plants in front. It grows at a medium rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for approximately 5 years. This plant performs well in both full sun and full shade. It does best in average to evenly moist conditions, but will not tolerate standing water. It is not particular as to soil type or ph. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. Available in quarts $3.50 JACOBS LADDER: An easy perennial, especially for beginning gardeners. Plants form a lush mound of deep green, ferny foliage, bearing upright stems with star-shaped blue or white flowers, held in small heads beginning in late spring. The flowers are similar to Phlox, and good as a cut flower. Tends to self seed prolifically, but cutting off the spent flower heads will help to prevent this. Evergreen in mild winter regions. Easily divided in early spring or fall. Available in quarts $3.50

CREEPING CHARLIE: Glechoma hederacea is an aromatic, perennial, evergreen creeper of the mint family Lamiaceae. It is commonly known as ground-ivy, gill-overthe-ground, creeping charlie, alehoof, tunhoof, catsfoot, field balm, and run-away-robin. Available in quarts $3.50 CREEPING JENNY: If you're looking to add color or fill a space in your yard quickly, consider colorful, low-maintenance golden creeping Jenny (Lysimachia nummularia 'Aurea'). Golden creeping Jenny is a natural ground cover choice where it can be left to run wild: a backyard bank, along a path, or even near a stream. Because golden creeping Jenny prefers moist soil, this is also a great plant to use in a rain garden. Available in quarts $3.50 LAMIUM: Anne Greenway, is one of the best choices for a tough yet showy perennial groundcover. This selection forms a spreading patch of small green leaves with a narrow light green edge. Clusters of soft lavender flowers appear in spring, then continue off and on until fall. Fairly tolerant of dry soil, once established. Trim back in late winter. Stems will root into the ground where they touch, and any new plants that form can be easily moved in spring or fall. Available in QUART $3.50

HYPNOTICA LAVENDER: They are ideal for the grower who needs a very vigorous series with well-shaped plants. They flower abundantly and consistently during summer. The flowers are large with shorter stems that do not stretch too far above the foliage. This tender perennial is grown as an annual in most climates, but you can dig up the tuber after first frost and save it for replanting next year. 1gal Only $6.00 HYPNOTICA RED: They are ideal for the grower who needs a very vigorous series with well-shaped plants. They flower abundantly and consistently during summer. The flowers are large with shorter stems that do not stretch too far above the foliage. This tender perennial is grown as an annual in most climates, but you can dig up the tuber after first frost and save it for replanting next year. 1gal Only $6.00 HYPNOTICA ORANGE: was given its name because it hypnotizes and intrigues. It s an appropriate name for a flower that has all the qualities to dominate its surroundings. Varieties in the series will capture eyes in any garden because of their attraction and brilliance. This tender perennial is grown as an annual in most climates, but you can dig up the tuber after first frost and save it for replanting next year. 1gal Only $6.00

STRAWBERRY DELIZZ: What s not to like about our first ever AAS strawberry winner Strawberry Delizz F1? These vigorous strawberry plants are easy to grow, from seed or transplant, and produce an abundant harvest throughout the growing season. The best part though is the wonderful sweet strawberry burst of flavor from every handpicked berry. To enjoy fresh home-grown strawberries throughout the season, even in hot summer heat, look to Strawberry Delizz F1. These plants have a nice uniform and compact size making them perfect for containers, hanging baskets or garden plots. The hardest part of Strawberry Delizz F1 won t be the growing but having some strawberries left for anyone else to enjoy! Available in QUART $3.50 MUSA BASJOO, BANANA PLANT: Want an instant jungle-feel to your garden? Plant a musa basjoo. This hardy banana grows rapidly and produces massive leek-like pseudostems of around (6 feet) in length, crowned with huge, exotic (6 feet) long and (30 inch) wide leathery leaves. The fruit is not really edible and the plant can only with difficulty be encouraged to flower in our climate, as it needs around 1 to 2 years of warmth to bloom. But as an eye-catcher this plant is hard to beat! Try it planted out or in a large pot. The foliage is not evergreen, but the roots are considered hardy to -10C. The better you manage to protect the stem and roots, the better your plant will recover in spring. Protect the roots with a thick layer of straw or mulch around the base of the plant. Cut the old leaves off. The stem may be protected by wrapping with hay and then reed matting. Christmas lighting may even be integrated into this insulation to give that little bit of extra warmth on really cold nights. Be sparing with water during the cool months. If you discover that the pseudostem has not survived the winter don t worry; the plant will rapidly grow to its full size again in spring if the root has survived.musa basjoo is a hungry, thirsty plant. So your home-grown jungle needs a little work! Treat it to organic or fluid fertiliser every second week and water abundantly. It may be a chore but your fully grown banana plant will have been worth it! The leaves of this plant are exotic to put it mildly.
