Overview Radiant Heat Warmer After birth, infants are placed under a radiant warmer until they can achieve thermoregulation. Radiant Warmers consists of an open tray (where the baby is kept) and the artificial heating is provided by a heating mechanism mounted overhead. The heating mechanism consists of quartz which produces the desired heat and a reflecting mechanism to divert the heat at the baby tray. The skin temperature of the baby can be monitored by a temperature measuring knob that is kept continuously attached to the body. The variation in the skin temperature can be seen on a small LCD panel which continuously shows the body temperature. Radiant warmers are equipped with alarm to indicate the change in temperature and hence attract attention of medical professional attending the baby. The heat generated can be controlled manually by a knob as well as automatically depending on the Radiant Heat Warmer.
Product Study Radiant energy Radiant Heating : It is the method of intentionally using mostly the principles of radiant heat to transfer radiant energy from an emitting heat source to an object. Radiant energy is the energy of electromagnetic waves. A heating element generates a significant amount of radiant energy in the far IR wavelength region (longer than three microns to avoid damaging the infant s retina and cornea). The radiant output of the heating unit is also limited to prevent thermal damage to the infant. The IR energy is readily absorbed by the infant s skin; increased blood flow in the skin then transfers heat to the rest of the body by blood convection (heat exchange between the blood and tissue surfaces) and tissue conduction(heat transfer between adjacent tissue surfaces). Heating elements ( silicon quartz / infrared /ceramic /quartz crystal)

Product Study Heat loss & Types Heat loss in the newborn can be caused by any one, or a combination, of the following factors: (A) Conduction: heat loss due to direct contact with a colder surface. (B) Convection: heat loss due to air movement. (C) Evaporation: heat loss due to the cooling effect of water loss on the skin. (D) Radiation: heat loss via infrared heat rays due to body metabolism.

Product Study Neonatal infrared thermographic Which consists of the following elements: (1) Radiant warmer; (2) bedside monitor; (3) infrared (IR) camera field of view (FOV); (4) IR camera; (5) analysis workstation; and (6) neonate laying under the radiant warmer. In this case, the parameter of thermography compensation to be taken into account is mainly the effect of excessive radiant energy from the overhead IR heater unit.

Competitor Analysis Market Scenario Major Players Major players in this market include GE, Phoenix, Fisher & Paykel, SS Technomed, Phoenix, Meditrend Inc., Zeal Medical, Nice Neotech, and Sreeyash Electro Medicals. While Meditrend Inc. is quite strong in North India, Sreeyash Electro Medicals has a presence in West India and Nice Neotech has concentrated its activities in Karnataka and Andhra. Market Trends Market is driven by expanding population and increasing birth rates, greater demand for advanced products, increased demand from primary health centers, and the growing availability of low-cost or locally manufactured technologies. Extensive growth in entry-level and mid-end models of warmers and incubators is expected due to release of funds by government to purchase these equipment under its National Rural Health Mission. In infant ventilation, sales may increasingly shift toward comprehensive units capable of treating a full range of patients, including neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients. Hybrid warming devices that can be configured as either open warmers or closed incubators may also be preferred by discerning customers. Research Data upto 2009 by medicalbuyer
