Following September 11, 2001, the US economy was severely depressed. Traditional industries serviced by Armil/CFS, Inc. since 1963 (i.e. heat treating, forging and investment casting) were struggling. Most manufacturers reduced expenditures on the purchase of new equipment; repairing existing equipment instead. The refractory repair of cremation chambers was a new market opportunity that Armil/CFS pursued. Existing cremation equipment by design was difficult and time consuming to repair. The industrial furnace manufacturing expertise offered by Armil/CFS was applied to improving cremation equipment and a new era of cremation products were created.
