TABERNACLE FIRE COMPANY #1 TABERNACLE TOWNSHIP BURLINGTON COUNTY STATION 431 2016 ANNUAL REPORT Submitted by Chief David Smith

OVERVIEW OF 2016: 2016 was a very busy year for the Officers and Members of Tabernacle Fire Company. We held and/or participated in many events throughout the area, which included Seneca Prom Event, Seneca After Graduation, Camp No Worries, Tabernacle Fall Festival, Memorial Day Parade, Yellow Ribbon Welcome Home Military, Senior Dinner, Breakfast with Santa, Christmas Tree Lighting, Allenwood CO/Smoke Detector Program and Fire Prevention Events. Our Fire Prevention activities included leading six sessions at Tabernacle Primary School for a total of approximately 31 adults and 444 children and one session at Lord of Life Preschool with a total of 9 adults and 45 children. We had our Open House for Fire Prevention which was a huge success with approximately 200 adults and 300 children attending. We also participated in Fire Prevention events for Shamong, Medford, Medford Lakes, and Southampton. In April 2016 we went to each residence in Allenwood to offer CO and Smoke Detectors. We installed 97 CO and Smoke Detectors, to assist in providing a safer environment for the residents in support of Fire Prevention Safety. This was made possible with the cooperation of the Burlington County Fire Marshals Office, as well as a grant we applied for through WaWa. We also had mid-point and final inspection in South Dakota for our new apparatus Rescue Engine (RE)4312, which was completed by the Deputy Chiefs, Engineers, Doug Cramer and myself. Delivery for RE4312 occurred in 2016, which required many hours for our volunteers to place it in service (to outfit and mount equipment). We held a Housing for RE4312, which was well attended by Tabernacle residents as well as mutual aid. Some of the features of RE4312 include (see complete list of equipment at the end of report): Fire Suppression Equipment for Rescue including Jaws of Life 1000 gallons of Water 50 gallons of Foam

Annual Testing was completed on the hoses, ladders (which included 439 ladders), aerial, fire extinguishers and SCBA flow test (which included 439 SCBA) to ensure safety of use. Quarterly testing for the cascade was completed throughout the year to ensure air is at top quality for use in the SCBA bottles. Fit testing was done for each fire member to ensure the proper fit for each fire member. Monthly inspections were completed on the building and generator etc. A PEOSHA inspection was also completed in 2016, which we passed. We applied for the FY2016 Assistance to Firefighters (AFG) Grant our grant request was for SCBA and Firefighter turnout gear. Awards will start to be announced starting on 4/14/2017. The Boy Scouts of America Explorer Post 2431 has been working very hard throughout the year. They attended their first competition in October and had a great time. The knowledge the Explorers have gained over the year is amazing.

RECAP OF CALLS: In 2016 we had total man-hours of 11,260.13; this includes time spent on calls, training and in house duty crews. It does not include the hours our volunteers spent on ground maintenance (mowing etc.), building clean-up, washing and waxing the fleet, paperwork, and standing by at the firehouse while annual testing of equipment/vehicles are completed. We had a total of 342 calls for 2016. Our overall average response time in Tabernacle was 5:49, while our overall average response time out of town was 8:45. Overall average response time, for those noted above, are calculated from the time 431 is dispatched until the first 431 unit arrives on location of the incident. The chart below indicates aid we received from out of town and aid we gave to our mutual aid Companies. The overall average response time for out of town, is based on the locations listed below in the aid given column. I appreciate every minute, every member has put in throughout the year, we had a busy year with a lot accomplished and a lot to celebrate. We wouldn t have been able to do this without the support of Tabernacle Township Committee, residents, and most of all the support of our 100% volunteer organization.
