THE SOCIETY As a professional organization, the CSLA is the voice of the profession in Canada and an advocate for its members on issues such as urban renewal, sustainable development and cultural heritage. [ Over 1,900 landscape ] architects are members

THE MISSION [ The CSLA is the advocate for landscape architecture in Canada. In collaboration with our component partner organizations, the CSLA is dedicated to advancing the art, the science and the practice of landscape architecture.* *The CSLA is a member of the International Federation of Landscape Architects.
WHO WE ARE THE BOARD, COUNCILS AND COMMITTEES The CSLA is administered by an Executive Committee (4 members), a board (9 members) and a full-time Executive Director. The accreditation of landscape architecture programs is administered by the Landscape Architecture Accreditation Council.

WHO WE ARE MEMBERSHIP Membership in the CSLA is obtained by joining a provincial or territorial component association. [ ] Advanced education, professional work experience and in some cases passing a professional entrance exam are the requirements to become a member of a component association.

OUR MANDATE AWARDS AND HONOURS Awards of Excellence (celebrate work that is inspiring, exhilarating, and remarkably diverse) Governor General s Medal in Landscape Architecture (The highest honour given to a landscape architect in Canada, with first medal to be awarded in 2016.) Recognition Awards (Schwabenbauer Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Community Service Award, President s Award, Student Award of Merit, Emerging Professionals Award and Teaching Award) College of Fellows (the highest honour the Society bestows on its members) National Urban Design Awards (recognize individuals, organizations, firms and projects that have contributed to the sustainability and quality of life)
OUR MANDATE WORLD LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE MONTH April is the perfect month to share our profession and reach out to our communities. (Earth Day April 22 nd & Birthday of F.L. Olmstead April 26 th ) The CSLA WLAM brings local and national recognition and awareness to the profession, encourages public participation and interest in events and activities related to landscape architecture and encourages people (particularly young people) to consider a career in landscape architecture.
OUR MANDATE SPEAKERS BUREAU The CSLA Speakers Bureau provides associations with a pool of professional landscape architects who are interested in speaking on a wide range of topics related to the profession. The objectives are to promote our profession and our skills, to provide continuous education and to inform and influence decision making.
OUR MANDATE AWARDS ATLAS The CSLA Awards Atlas is an interactive online searchable tool featuring Awards of Excellence winners searchable via google street view.
OUR MANDATE ADVOCACY TASK FORCE The purpose of the Advocacy Task Force is to advance the initiatives of the CSLA Board and the Strategic Plan, and to raise the profile of landscape architects and the role we play in creating healthy, safe, enjoyable, and sustainable environments.
