Public Works Project Delivery Report May 2017 San Gabriel Public Works delivers reliable infrastructure & welcoming public spaces by designing, constructing, operating & maintaining the City s streets, parks, utilities, facilities & fleet. May 21-27 is National Public Works Week and May 25 th is San Gabriel Public Works Day! Since 1960, APWA has sponsored National Public Works Week. Across North America, agencies use this week to energize and educate the public on the importance of public works to their daily lives: planning, building, managing and operating at the heart of their local communities to improve everyday quality of life. The 2017 National Public Works Week Poster Theme is Public Works Connects Us celebrating the vital role public works plays in connecting us all together. Thank you to the City Council, City Staff and -- most of all to the citizens of San Gabriel for your support of Public Works. This newsletter highlights the projects and other notable activities currently underway in the Public Works Department to help build, repair and maintain the public infrastructure. PROJECTS IN CONSTRUCTION More than Ever, San Gabriel is Paving the Way to Great Streets As reported in the last Delivery Report, more miles of streets will be repaved in the coming year than have ever been paved at one time in recent history and possibly in the City s history. We will use communication tools and best construction practices to minimize inconvenience, but there will certainly be some impacts while these streets are rebuilt. Thank you for your patience!
