Item Description ED101 Revised Sheet Keynotes 9 to read: Remove existing fire alarm device and turn over all 2.1 removed to the Owner. Maintain existing initiation appliance loop and notification appliance loop circuits in place to allow for reconnection of removed fire alarm devices by others. EF101 Re-issue entire drawing to show change from installing fire alarm devices to installing fire 2.2 alarm junction boxes, conduit and pull strings in conduit only. Specification 283111 Re-issue entire specification, which removes fire alarm devices from scope and 2.3 includes installing fire alarm junction boxes, conduit and pull strings in conduit only. 3.0 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS The following questions and answers are provided as a matter of information to clarify issues raised about the Bid Documents. Item Questions and Answers Question: We are requesting approval of our BarrierDek Metal Security Ceiling for the Wicomico County Circuit Court 2nd Floor Renovation. Attached is a letter requesting approval along with our literature, 3.1 drawing details and test data for your use. 3.2 Answer: This product is acceptable and can be used for this project. Question: Please provide location the RG6 cable for the TV are to be pulled to.
3.3 Answer: The cable will be installed by others. Provide ¾ conduit with pull strings from cable television receptacles in Jury Assembly room to the MDEC equipment cabinet. Route conduit through the ceiling space of the floor below. Question: Please provide more information for the speakers that are to be replaced in the jury assembly room, type of speaker, location of court smart equipment. Answer: The speakers will be provided by others. Provide ¾ conduit with pull strings and junction boxes from the speaker locations in the Jury Assembly room to the MDEC equipment cabinet. SECTION 283111 - DIGITAL, ADDRESSABLE FIRE-ALARM SYSTEM PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 SUMMARY A. Section Includes: 1. System smoke detectors. 2. Notification appliances. 1.2 ACTION SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: For each type of junction box and conduit. 1.3 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS A. Qualification Data: For Installer. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Installer Qualifications: Installation shall be by personnel certified by NICET as fire-alarm Level III technician. B. NFPA Certification: Obtain certification according to NFPA 72 by an NRTL (nationally recognized testing laboratory). PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION A. The indicated existing fire alarm, devices in the design documents shall be removed and turned-over to the owner. New junction boxes, conduit and pull strings for the fire alarm devices (not in contract) shall be provided complete from the new junction box back to an existing junction box for the fire alarm notification appliance loop and for the fire alarm initiation appliance loop. B. All components provided shall be listed for use with the existing system. C. Electrical Components, Devices, and Accessories: Listed and labeled as defined in NFPA 70, by a qualified testing agency, and marked for intended location and application. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION A. Comply with NFPA 72, NFPA 101, and requirements of authorities having jurisdiction for installation. Install all electrical junction boxes and conduit to comply with requirements in NFPA 70 including, but not limited to, Article 760, "Fire Alarm Systems." B. Changes to Existing Equipment: Verify that existing fire-alarm system is operational before making changes. 3.2 PATHWAYS A. Pathways shall be installed in EMT. 3.3 IDENTIFICATION A. Identify system components, junction boxes and conduit. Comply with requirements for identification specified in Section 260553 "Identification for Electrical Systems." B. Install framed instructions in a location visible from fire-alarm control unit. 3.4 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Perform the following tests and inspections: 1. Visual Inspection: Conduct visual inspection prior to testing. a. Inspection shall be based on completed record Drawings and system documentation that is required by NFPA 72 in its "Completion Documents, Preparation" table in the "Documentation" section of the "Fundamentals" chapter. b. Comply with the "Visual Inspection Frequencies" table in the "Inspection" section of the "Inspection, Testing and Maintenance" chapter in NFPA 72; retain the "Initial/Reacceptance" column and list only the installed components.
