Greenleaf 100 Macerator Toilet Pump System Grey Water Capable Introduction The Greenleaf 100 toilet macerator pump comprises the tank housing, the motor and pump assembly. The pump is suitable for use in domestic waste / sewerage installations. The unit activates and deactivates automatically depending on fluid levels in the unit. Normal Operation To ensure continued reliability of the macerator unit, only organic toilet sewerage, water and toilet paper should be passed through the system. No other liquids or solids should be allowed to enter the pump. Other items can cause the pump to clog and malfunction or to burnout the motor. The maximum temperature of the pumped fluid should not exceed +50*c in permanent operation. The pump must not be used for flammable liquids, gas emitting liquids, explosive liquids, fuel, cleaning agents or any other chemical products. Operating Principal The macerator comprises a tank that stores the waste products/wastewater and an electric power pump, which grinds and pumps the waste product. The unit is automatically controlled and operated via a pressure switch. The pump will start operating when activate either by flushing of the toilet or water flowing into the storage unit from a shower or sink unit. Cycle The waste product /wastewater flows into the tank unit A. The air chamber B in the main tank measures the air pressure that is created by the tank filling and activates the pressure switch D via the pipe C. The pressure switch activates the power circuit which supplies power to the motor. The motor starts which in turn spins the attached turbine. The turbine will grind and pump the waste matter up through the outlet G. The waste matter is discharged into the sewerage connection. When the tank empties the pressure will decrease causing the power to be interrupted to the motor, which in turn stops the operation. Safety The unit is to be used only in the manner described in this instruction sheet. This unit is not suitable for use in swimming pools, paddling pools, or any form of standing water. The unit must not be situated where it is exposed to direct water or rain. The operation of this unit in any situation other than for its recommended use is prohibited. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not interfere with this unit. Carry out a visual inspection of the unit prior to use and on a regular bases. Do not use the device if it is damaged or defective. Do not override the unit. Prior to carrying out any maintenance on the unit the power cord must be disconnected from the mains supply. If the power cable is damaged it must be serviced and replaced by a qualified electrician. The power requirements for this unit are 230V 50Hz. The supply to this unit must be 230V 50Hz. Never lift or carry the unit by the power cable.
Ensure the power plug is connected in an area that is dry and in a flood proof zone. Warning Please read all the safety guidelines and instructions. Non- compliance with the safety rules and regulations can lead to electric shock, fire or serious injury. Installation The user is responsible for ensuring that the unit is installed in compliance with any regulations that may pertain to the use of this device. The user / installer will ensure that adequate precautions are taken in regard to protecting the area from flooding / overflow by way of an alarm system or standby pump. The user / installer is responsible for any consequential damage that may arise from installation that may cause flooding, water overflow or any other such event that may occur form the operation of this unit. The supplier accepts no responsibility for any damage caused by non- operation of the unit at any time. It is the user / installer s responsibility to ensure that back up devices and alarms are installed to protect their property at all times. Toilet Waste Connection Inlet The unit can be operated with most standard toilets with a horizontal outflow. The mid point of the horizontal outlet of the toilet should be 18CM from ground level to match the mid point of the pumps toilet inlet connection. A 100mil rubber connection on the front of the macerator assembly is for the toilet waste connection. The supplied clamping ring should be used when connecting the toilet waste. Top 40mil Discharge Connector. This connection is the 40mil rubber outlet on the top right hand side of the pump when viewing the pump from the front. The 40mil outlet pipe is attached to this
connection. A non- return valve is supplied with the pump to be used in this discharge line. IMPORTANT Please ensure that this Non return check valve is installed vertically and within 30cm of the discharge outlet. The arrow on the side of the check valve indicates the direction of flow of the waste flow. The arrow must point vertically upwards. Failure to install this non- return check valve correctly will cause the pump to cycle continuously. Top 40mil Waste Connector This 40mil waste rubber connection is on the left hand side top when looking at the pump from the front. This is the connection for waste from sinks, vanities, and washing machines. A steel clamping ring is supplied for this connection. Lower 40mil Waste Connection The 40 mil waste connection is on the lower left hand side of the pump when viewing the pump from the front. This waste connection is for wastewater from showers and baths. A non- return check valve is supplied and should be installed to prevent flow back up this line. The arrow on the non- return check valve should point towards the pump when installed in this line. Pressure Switch Override Button The pressure switch override button is located on the top of the unit right hand side front when viewing the pump from the front. Depressing this button will override the pressure switch function and cause the motor to run.
Dry Running The unit must not be allowed to run dry at any time. The manufacturers warranty is invalid if it is determined that the unit has been run dry. Trouble Shooting Guide Pump Causes Remedy Slow to discharge or Outlet pipe to long Reposition Pipe Will not discharge Or to high Outlet pipe diameter To small Replace Pipe Partial blockage of outlet Actuate the pump with Override switch. If Problem persist, pump Is blocked, clear blockage Emits a humming noise Pump blocked Check pump and But does not discharge the waste Clear blockage Starts running and discharging accidentally Check valve installed Incorrectly Check valve has failed Open Leak in the tank that causes the water to flow into the macerator and sets it running Reinstall correctly Clean / replace check Valve Repair the leak Runs Continually Vertical discharge outlet check Reposition check valve Valve to high above the pump Check valve defective Pressure switch defective Replace check valve Check pressure switch No humming noise No Electrical supply Check electrical supply Pressure switch defective Press the manual override button If the pump runs check The pressure switch. If override button has no effect check the pump Motor
