Ultra Fog water mist Typical spray pattern of ULTRA FOG Water mist nozzle
Water mist Only water is used 1L of water turns into 1700 litres of vapour! 80-90% less water than traditional sprinkler system = less damage High Cooling Effect Large expansion during vaporisation, stops/reduces oxygen to the fire. Shield against heat radiation
High cooling effect of the high pressure water mist system
The effect of water mist The very small water droplets allow the water mist to control, suppress or extinguish fires. Creates a cooling effect on both the flame and surrounding gases Absorbs radiant heat Reduces fire energy and by evaporation, reduces oxygen concentration near the fire due so that combustion can no longer be maintained. When the water droplets evaporate, they expand in the air further depriving the fire of oxygen, effectively creating a double extinguishing attack on the fire.

Energy consumption Temperature increase for 1 litre with 1 degree Celsius = 4,19 kj Transforming 1 litre (100ºC) water to vapour (100ºC) = 2256 kj Thus, energy is rapidly extracted from the fire by the enormous surface that is formed by the huge number of very small droplets. 600 400 200

Nozzles ULTRAFOG nozzles and system are : Internationally patented Type approved by LR, DNV-GL, BV, ABS, CCS, FM, USCG Tried and tested since 1985 Manufactured under a strictly audited and certified ISO 9001, MED D, and FM quality system The production of Ultrafog nozzles is strictly controlled, with regular audits performed on suppliers of critical components, and in house quality checks on all nozzle assemblies prior to delivery. Ultrafog welcomes control inspections both at its own production and its selected suppliers if the customer wishes to do so.

Anti clogging nozzle design From 1993 to now without any clogging problems!!! Parts that can be exposed to chloride solution The green area is filled with water and the materials in this area can withstand permanent chloride levels of 50ppm without risk of corrosion. The red area is normally not filled with water, but also this area can withstand permanent chloride levels of 50ppm without risk of corrosion. Outside surface of the nozzle: the level of the corrosion resistance outside of the nozzles is categoried according to EN ISO 112994-4 C3 Atmospheres with some salt or moderate air pollution. Urban areas and lightly industrialized areas. Areas with certain influence from the coast
Nozzles with increased corrosion resistance To increase the corrosion resistance the nozzle has been subject to two protection processes: All stainless steel parts have been electricity polished and then passivated in chrome acid. 1. Stainless steel 304 2. Stainless steel 316 3. Stainless steel 316L 4. Stainless steel 5. Aluminium bronze Ultra fog use high quality materials in all the nozzles. The parts are turned from solid bars using with precision cnc-machines. To minimize friction and ensure that the piston (3) runs smoothly even after long periods of installation, the gap between the piston and the screw (5) is filled with silicone grease. 1 5 2 1 1 4 3
Nozzles with EXTRA corrosion resistance If the nozzles are used in atmospheres with higher corrosive class C5-1 or C5-2 e.g. Nozzle is mounted outside at coastal and offshore areas with high salinity or areas with almost permanent air condensation and large air pollutant Ultra Fog recommends that these nozzles be replaced by nozzles with EXTRA corrosion resistance (balcony, mooring area, pool and salt sauna area). 1. Stainless steel SANDVIK 1802 2. Stainless steel 316 3. Stainless steel 316L 4. Stainless steel 5. Aluminium bronze Nozzles with EXTRA corrosion resistance: All stainless steel parts are manufactured in SANDVIK 1802 and are passivated in chrome acid. 1 1 1 5 2 4 3
Study to investigate the risk of corrosion The purpose of this study is to investigate the risk of corrosion heads of ships sprinkler system. The nozzles have been exposed in different concentration of chlorine solution for six months. Concentration 100 mg/l Concentration 50000 mg/l 20000mg/L It s the concentration of the seawater (Lenntech, 2005)
Conclusion of the study No serious deterioration of the nozzles is observed after testing for a period of six months 100 mg/l 50000 mg/l In conclusion the corrosion observed on the surface of the product did not affect the product's functioning, and the piston's ability to move freely inside the nozzle is preserved.

Order received from: Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd Scope of Supply: Design and turnkey implementation of HP water mist local application to support the existing fire suppression installations in machinery spaces. This system acts as a "first call" fire release protecting high risk areas (e.g. engines, generators, incinerator rooms etc) which can immediately activated, without the need to evacuate the area. This will shorten extinguishing times and reduce risk of damage or crippling of engine room equipment. Legend of the Seas Splendour of the Seas

IMO MSC 1272, protection of RoRo and special category spaces. IMO MSC 1268, protection of balconies. ISO 15371, for protection of galley ducts and cooking equipment (including deep fat fryers). A performance Effectiveness Analysis was carried out by DNV, Norway. Component testing by the laboratory of FM (Factory Mutual), USA. USCG (United States Coast Guard) approved. Our test procedures began in 1991 and are constantly being renewed in order to include new fire protection applications, new standards and regulations, and improved nozzle performance.
Why Ultra Fog is your best choice? Ultra Fog: custom designed, highly engineered, quality manufactured fire suppression systems! The mist developed by the performance of Ultra Fog high pressure patented nozzles has a definitive cooling effect on a fire. The fine mist actually cleans the smoke, helping to remove particles of combustion. Extinguishing effect of mist relative to the amount of water used is extraordinary. Fast extinguishing fast automatic sprinklers with low RTI value or by detectors. Rapid expansion of water droplets reduces the oxygen in the fire zone. Risk of flash over is substantially reduced or reduced to ZERO. Using less water than conventional sprinklers reduces drain sizes and reduces the amount of hazardous waste generated from discharge. Using less water than conventional sprinklers reduces the amount of water required to be stored. Less room, less weight. Small stainless steel pipe dimensions result in less weight, ease of installation, and pipe networks that are easy to conceal. Aesthetically pleasing nozzles. The only wet sprinkler able to be tested while in service using Ultra Fog s Patented Test tool. WATER, the ultimate green agent, environmentally friendly, people safe and readily available. Fire systems that have fast response are highly effective, quick and easy to put back into service.
The ULTRA FOG advantage. Nozzle superior coverage Less number of nozzles = Lower installation and maintenance cost. All St Steel internals of the nozzle Low maintenance Pump station Low cost Stainless Steel pipes (Ø12, 22, 28 & 42-60mm) Very low weight of system (empty/full) FULLY engineered to order. Full integration with your systems. Only potable water!
