Climate Business Unit Adiabatic System Platform humisonic direct Following the launch of the first ultrasonic humidifiers (0.5 l/h and 1.0 l/h) for fan coil applications, dough retarders and showcases, Carel has continued investing in this technology, extending range of the solutions offered: humisonic direct for room applications is now available in the 2, 4, 6 and 8 l/h versions. The new humisonic direct for ambient applications is a high efficiency (droplets as small as 1 µm) and precise (±1% RH) adiabatic humidifier, intended mainly for process humidity control or in comfort applications where energy saving (less than 80W per litre/hour) is the main driver. 1
1. Strengths The main strengths of humisonic direct for room applications are: 1. Complete and compact solution humisonic is the only ultrasonic humidifier available on the market capable of containing both the piezoelectric transducers that provide atomization, and the electronic board to receive the control signals and manage the wash and fill cycles. Positioning and installation of the humidifier are therefore immediate and intuitive. The version with built-in probe can indeed be considered a plug & play solution, as all the are already pre-configured (including the set point of 50% RH). 2. Energy saving Thanks to its very low energy consumption (less than 80 W per liter of atomized water), humisonic is the ideal solution for data centers and for all applications where humidity control can be managed exploiting part of the sensible heat generated inside the controlled environment. Comparison shows how humisonic consumes less than the 10% of the energy of isothermal humidification systems! 3. Mission Critical DNA By running humisonic on demineralized water, operation of the piezoelectric transducers exceeds 10,000 hours! In addition, the precision of humidity control guaranteed by humisonic direct is ±1% RH on the set point. This new generation of ultrasonic humidifiers incorporates all of Carel s experience in ensuring maximum hygiene: all components in contact with the demineralized water are made from stainless steel, and the main body is designed to prevent stagnation of water at the end of the humidification cycle. Moreover, the electronic controller manages periodical washing cycles in the event of system inactivity. 2
2. Technical specifications humisonic direct is a stand-alone unit without external electrical panel! Fitted with humidity probe, humisonic is totally independent in managing its own operation. The unit requires a power connection, a feed water connection and a water drain connection. Power supply 110 V 60 Hz Water inlet OD = 8 mm Water drain OD = 8 mm FRONT AIR FLOW humisonic direct is fitted with a series of front fans designed to create a thin jet or blade of air that carries the droplets, increasing the free path. Finally, to avoid dripping, the diffusers have been especially designed and shaped both regarding the angle of the duct and the profile of the extremities. humisonic direct comes with a LED backlit power button that provides information on unit status through a series of blue or red flashes, representing operation, standby or active alarms. The LED button is located at the bottom of the unit, in a position where it is accessible and visible when humisonic is wall-mounted. 3

Only the Master unit needs to be equipped with the auxiliary card (UUKAX00000), and communicates with the other Slave units via tlan. The Slave units fully replicate the operation of the Master unit. This means the entire system can be managed by controlling the Master only. Correct configuration of the dipswitches on the Slave units is shown here in the figure on the side. 4
3. humisonic installation in the room Recommended installation is wall mounting (as shown in the figure) or resting on a support surface. For this reason there are air openings both on the bottom and at the rear of the unit. Space for the air openings always needs to be guaranteed on the bottom or on the back, along with space in front of the diffusers for absorption of the atomized water. The following diagram shows the minimum clearances for room installation with a temperature of 68 F and a humidity set point of 50%. Promotional KIT FOR PROMOTIONS TO DESIGNERS AND CONSULTANTS Just like humifog and many other climate solutions, humisonic also needs to be heavily promoted to designers and consultants in order to be included in tender/contract specifications and consequently specified for projects. Starting from 2/1/2016, a humisonic carry kit will be available for purchase. The kit can be used to carry out practical demonstrations of a working unit.
