Eastcombe House Haw Lane Olveston Bristol BS35 4EG
Seller Insight The picturesque village of Olveston lies in the heart of the glorious South Gloucestershire countryside. It s a truly outstanding setting, and one that is also extremely convenient as it lies within close proximity to Bristol city centre and also enjoys easy access to the motorway networks. Eastcombe House is a handsome Victorian property that occupies a prime location within the much sought after village. After relocating from South Africa my husband and I were living in a house in a neighbouring village, says Rosemary, but with the children growing up we decided we needed somewhere bigger. I was born in Olveston and so knew both the village and Eastcombe House well, and a friend told me that it was for sale. I had visited the house as a young girl and so I knew the minute I walked inside I d want to buy it. We have now owned the property for thirty-five very happy years. One enters Eastcombe House into a welcoming reception hall, from which each of the main living areas flow. It is a layout that not only enhances the wonderful feeling of space that flows throughout the house, but one that is also ideal for modern family living. The rooms are all generously proportioned with large windows that allow natural light to flood in, and many also retain an array of beautiful period features. This charming home benefits from being enveloped by an established garden, which has been beautifully landscaped to include a large terrace and a generous lawned area that is surrounded by a mature border of shrubs and trees. The garden is wonderfully peaceful, says Rosemary, and in the spring and summer, when all of the trees are in full leaf, it s incredibly secluded. We have a beautiful conservatory on the front of the house. It faces south, so when the sun is shining it s a lovely place to sit with a good book. Since purchasing the house, the owners have knocked through the old kitchen and scullery to create one, open-plan AGA kitchen and dining area. It s a wonderfully sociable space that has become the real heart of the home. Olveston is a beautiful place to live and caters for most needs. We have a village store and Post Office, a good bakery and a butcher, and we even have a hairdressing salon. The village is also part of a thriving parish that plays host to a variety of clubs and societies, so there s always plenty of activity. Eastcombe House has been a superb family home for the past thirty-five years, but we feel that the time is now right for us to downsize. We shall, however, definitely be staying in the village. * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property.
