Modern Parts Washing Systems Health, safety and environmental regulations are redefining the workplace. It's a sign of the times and a signal to all progressive thinking manufacturer's and rebuilders. Toxic chemicals and hazardous waste must be eliminated. And the sooner the better. Of major concern are traditional vapor degreasing and cleaning solvents. The potential health effects and ecological consequences of these toxic solvents are well documented in EPA, medical and scientific studies. To replace solvent degreasing we must change old habits and procedures. Traditional solvent cleaning is primarily a dipping process using aggressive chemicals to do most, if not all, of the work. Modern detergent cleaning is a washing process using safer milder chem i- cals in high performance washing systems. The equipment must provide sufficient mechanical agitation, part orientation and "bath conditioning" apparatus to activate, accelerate and facilitate the process. RAMCO has manufactured washers and degreasers for over 60 years. At RAMCO our business is designing and manufacturing flexible washing systems for environmentally safe parts washing. We believe that personal health, safety and the environment come first and there can be no compromise when it comes to safeguarding these areas. Our Migi-Kleen Parts Washers are designed to meet demanding cleanliness specifications to help create a new era in environmentally safe, effective industrial parts washing systems. They can replace existing toxic solvent degreasers and achieve equal to or better results in most applications. The Innovative Parts Washer Migi-Kleen is an immersion parts washer designed for the removal of oils, chips and dirt from a wide range of components. The heart of the RAMCO system is the adroit use of an elevator within each processing chamber. The elevator is used to transport components into and out of each chamber. However, its most important function is to position and continuously move components within the working zone during the process. It accomplishes this using a simple and rugged pneumatically powered reciprocating platform driven by our patented NFPA Floating Cylinder. It is this aspect of its function that allows RAMCO systems to achieve superior results in washing, rinsing and drying. We call this Dynamic Flow Combination. The effect of Dynamic Flow Combination is more consistent results and accelerating processing times due to better coverage of component surfaces (removing inconsistencies caused by standing waves or shadowing). Typical Applications Removal of oil and chips from machined components, castings and housings. Cleaning prior to welding, brazing, deburring or blas ting. Removal of buffing or lapping compounds. Precision cleaning prior to assembly or final packaging. General washing for maintenance, rework or remanufacturing. Carbon, rust, ink and paint removal. Passivation, phosphating, alodine. Tube cleaning. FPI - preclean, penetrant process, post clean. Easy to Operate Migi-Kleen does the dirty work. It completely eliminates the need to clean parts by hand. The transport elevator automatically processes the work. Labor is saved for more skillful operations. 1. The operator loads contaminated parts or basket(s) of parts onto a sturdy transport elevator. 2. With the simple flip of a switch, the elevator automatically lowers the work into the immersion chamber and reciprocates, up and down, up to 240 strokes per minute. 3. Vigorous mechanical agitation swishes solution against all surfaces, in and around holes and recesses. Stubborn contaminants are washed away with complete ease and without hand labor. The operator returns at his/her convenience, flips the switch and the transport elevator rises to the original loading position. Ideal for Cellular or One Piece Flow Migi-Kleens can accommodate a wide assortment of component sizes and configurations within a small working envelope. The immersion chamber is built to adapt a variety of auxiliary items, as required by the application, to heighten the chemical and/or mechanical activity of the cleaning solution. A broad spectrum of cleanliness levels can be satisfied. Starting with the basic modular system, you can integrate filtration, turbulation, spray, ultrasonics and/or effluent controls to meet your requirements. Intense ultrasonic activity delivers enhanced speed and performance Ultrasonic Migi-Kleens Ultrasonic Migi-Kleens are very effective when used in applications with demanding cleanliness specifications. The system creates an intense microscopic scrubbing action and a significant boost in chemical activity. It can penetrate recessed areas of intricately shaped components to loosen fine and tenacious contamination. The unique RAMCO ultrasonic system cascades powerful sweep frequency ultrasonics with our standard turbo/filter/agitation washing. Using mechanical agitation washing to remove gross contamination and ultrasonic cleaning to remove finer and/or more resistive deposits is a very effective processing routine. The steps are sequenced with dual digital cascading timers for agitation washing before (or after) the ultrasonic cleaning phase. And using our new MultipleRollover feature the dual mode process can be repeated for any number of preset rollovers. The results are faster cleaning and more effective overall processing. The ultrasonic stage can be set to provide vertical oscillation of the work during the cycle. A selector switch is provided for static ultrasonic or oscillating ultrasonic modes. This option provides superior ultrasonic washing action compared to conventional systems by moving the work through the peaks and nodes of the wave energy. TURBO directs high volume solution jets at the working zone TurboFilter Combinations Turbulating systems use high volume pumps and closed looped manifolds with multiple solution injectors directed at the work zone. They provide an even flow of turbulence over, under, around and through components. This accelerates the cleaning time and improves overall effectiveness in washing and/or rinsing. TurboFilter combinations include a high performance filtration unit in line with the turbulator to remove suspended particulate. Single and dual housing systems with mesh, cartridge or bag filter elements are standard. Low micron and absolute filtration systems are readily available. An important note about transducers - some ultrasonic systems are built with transducers bonded directly to the bottom of the tank(s). RAMCO only use transducers bonded within immersibles that are bolted into the bottom of the tank(s) and that can be easily removed from the tank for service. The other design (with bonded tank transducers) is less costly to build but if a transducer fails or gets damaged it requires sending the whole tank back to the factory to be properly fixed (major downtime). If you were to have a transducer problem with a RAMCO system we could send you a loaner immersible (stocked on our shelf or replaced out of your spare parts inventory) and repair the damaged immersible (transducer) at the factory (minimal downtime).

SurfaceSweep keeps floating oil from redepositing onto cleaned parts Oil Removal Systems Oil Removal Systems are standard options easily added to any Migi-Kleen. There are several systems available depending on the application. The Ramco Surface Sweep system is designed to trap oil in an off-line quiet tank. A sweep header is strategically located in the wall of the washing chamber. A large overflow dam is built into the opposing wall. The OR-6A Oil Removal System (shown above) is designed to trap oil in a polypropylene tank. The tank has a stainless steel pump to discharge oil free detergent through the sweep header to create lateral flow across the surface of the bath. The flow directs surface oil to the large overflow dam. Oil-detergent emulsions separate in the off-line quiet tank and oil rises to the surface. A stainless steel belt skimmer automatically removes accumulated oil and routes it to a separate collection container. Surface Sweep prevents floating oil from redepositing onto cleaned parts. It is designed to handle oil that will split from modern detergents. The system will not work on water soluble or dissolved oil (processed with a solvent emulsion or solvent). Migi-Kleen effluent control systems actually clean the solution while the solution cleans your parts. Flow generated from high volume lateral turbo header Migi-Kleens are Expandable Due to their compact modular design, Migi-Kleens can grow to meet your changing requirements. You can budget according to your current needs adding features and/or stations if and when required. For example, a basic wash system can be retrofit with turbo filter to increase productivity or a rinsing station added to improve cleanliness. As specifications tighten your system can adapt. Migi-Kleens can be placed side by side without the use of connecting sections. This significantly reduces floor space requirements. Elevator platforms can be equipped with roller conveyor sections to facilitate manual transfer from station to station. Lateral Turbo Lateral Turbo mounts injectors in a push (discharge) header on one side of the tank and a pull (suction) header on the opposing wall. It is especially effective using MultiPort Oscillation for tube cleaning applications. Tubes oscillate in and out of solution passing in front of the push and pull headers with each long stroke. As the workload passes in and out of the processing zone the turbo pushes and pulls solution along and through the tubes.

Dual Zone Immersion/Spray The Dual Zone Immersion/Spray Rinsing System consists of a cover mounted spray header within the MK unit, a solenoid valve in line with a fresh water feed, a dual zoned MultiPort cylinder, and dual cycle timers. The operator presses a push button to start the cycle. The elevator automatically descends into the immersion rinsing zone and begins to oscillate. When the immersion rinsing cycle is over the elevator automatically rises into the spray rinsing zone. The platform oscillates in the spray rinsing zone as the parts are sprayed off with a final pure water rinse. MK Dryers RAMCO Hot Air Knife Blow-Off Dryers get maximum evaporation providing rapid drying without excessive heat. The key is using high volume hot air combined with changing air flow patterns created by the oscillating elevator. Air is recirculated, heated and directed into the drying chamber via adjustable air knives. The elevator constantly oscillates the workload in and out of the hot air stream. Humid air is displaced with just the right amount of fresh air using adjustable vents to maintain effective air quality within the chamber. The dryer is electrically heated and includes a digital indicating temperature controller, high temperature manual reset and an air flow proving switch to protect heaters. Small Parts Rotator The RAMCO Small Parts Rotator is an auxiliary device for the Migi-Kleen and MKD/T Series. It is a rotary fixture designed for baskets of screw machine parts or other small parts that have blind holes. There are three models. The SPR24 is designed for the MKD/T24 Series. It holds one (11 x 14 x 5 ) high basket. The SPR36 is designed for the MK36 and holds two baskets. The SPR48 is designed for the MK48 and holds three baskets. Each basket is built to gently compress and confine the work load thereby minimizing movement during rotation. We recommend a maximum weight load of 35 pounds for each basket. The entire device is separate from the basic washing system. Each SPR has lifting handles. It simply sits on the elevator platform and plugs in. MultiPort Oscillation MultiPort Oscillation permits platform oscillation within different zones of the process chamber. With MultiPort seven strokes are available to choose from, each with a distinct altitude and zone of operation. As an example you can oscillate in and out of solution using a short stroke in just the upper half of the chamber, or switch to an extended long stroke in and out of solution through the entire chamber. This feature lets you fine tune applications for the optimum agitation stroke, turbo flow pattern and zoning for filling/draining of cavities without ever having to adjust solution levels. Ventilation - Exhaust Systems A lip vent exhaust system is designed to come on as the cover opens and shut of as the cover closes. It is designed for 150-200 cfm per square foot of opening. A slotted vent and large plenum extends across the front of the processing chamber(s). The plenum extends along the side of the chamber and terminates at the rear with a tubular axial fan. Positive mechanical ventilation (in accordance with recommendations from the chemical manufacturer - see MSDS sheets) is designed to limit the accumulation of chemical vapors thereby making the system safer when the cover is open. Furthermore, limiting the spreading of chemical vapors from the surface of the solution to the surrounding area will lessen any hazard to the immediate environment.
