URBAN GALLERY Action Plans Layer Goals: Dynamically implement the novel solutions. Action Plans are distillations and refinement of ideas developed through Scenario Games. Action Plans can be plans to implement any kind of a Prototype; from architectural projects to a policy. Action plan needs to show when and where do specific actors and agents come into play to develop the Prototype further. It also needs to show how does the Prototype develop and proliferate on a larger scale so to create an Incubator Action: At the end of the negotiation process an action plan is set in order to implement the solutions. Scenario Games Layer Goals: Inclusively manage and curate development of novel solutions. Action: All parties involved are brought to the table to negotiate best solutions. Prototypes Layer Goals: Propose new and novel solutions for identified problems and opportunities. Prototypes are new concepts, ideas and innovative projects that enable the reorganization of existing processes and the initiation of new ones. Prototypes are designs as well as organizational structures that link different processes to create higher levels of efficiency and new urban qualities. Database Layer Goals: Understand what is the condition of a territory and what are current solutions. Action: Collect data from the ground and introduce it in the Database in the form of Mini Scenarios and Operational Fields Prof. Raoul Bunschoten Chair for Sustainable Urban Planning and Urban Design Technische Universität Berlin

The School becomes a network of willing local commercial and faculty resources. This extends the relationship between institution and student by distance and time. XIAMEN AS PILOT LOW CARBON CITY (2010) -The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), has selected Xiamen as one of a series of pilot carbon cities to address the nation s carbon emissions issues. Each area is required to draft its own plan to reduce carbon emissions and develop a green economy for the nation s 12th FYP. In order to adjust the energy behaviour of a section of the population, they must be educated on the methods and reasons behind a different way of life. This can be done through formal means (syllabus changes, lectures etc) or informally (PR, signage etc). control centre where all aspects of the city can be managed and monitored as a whole. has developed a prototype for a control centre building that gives this an iconic form and includes public space for people to learn about smart city. B E F I SECTOR : Education and Research SIZE : Non Physical SOURCE : Chora It is home to around 30,000 students and at 243 hectares, is bigger than the main campus of Xiamen University. There are 8 schools located on the new campus, notably the Institute of Energy Research. The campus is situated within the larger future development in Xiang an district, surrounding the proposed new airport on Dadeng Island. Project Description An additional layer to the existing campus is proposed in the form of a series of follies. Each folly has a smart component to it; energy generation, educational research facilities, social spaces, mobility systems, waste management, food production. A central control building monitors the performance of the follies. The elements of the smart campus all work together in different ways. The campus becomes a microcosm of a smart city district, and a testing laboratory for new technologies and systems. b EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME In order for smart city systems and planning rules B E F I Pr-D01 [DATABASE] XIANG AN DISTRICT HUB TEXT SOURCE : http://www.stats-xm.gov.cn IMAGE SOURCE : http://www.whatsonxiamen.com/ Gameset Pr-G03 [003] g In 2011, Xiamen City introduced 91 of the $ 10 million program, contracted foreign investment of $ 1.701 billion, an increase of 26.2 percent, including 37 newly approved contractual foreign investment of $ 637 million, 54 capital projects, 1.064 billion U.S. dollars of contracted foreign capital.
