WPS Security Efforts Increased efforts to enhance safety at all buildings Recent updates to cameras at WHS w/ semi-annual meetings with vendor Cameras added in key places at WHS to increase security School staff received a maroon & gold breakaway lanyard to secure ID; school colors identify staff members as WPS employees Daily substitutes are provided a gold lanyard/ ID when entering the building and signing in each day Visitors receive a blue lanyard/ visitor ID when signing in at all primary; visitor stickers printed out with picture ID at middle and high school All staff asked to help ensure safety at all schools by inquiring when an ID is not visible, as the Safety & Security team has implemented these new expectations in the best interests of staff and students Anyone who will be unsupervised with children must have CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and SAFIS (Statewide Applicant Fingerprint Identification Services) results on file Keyless entry at all twelve buildings, with additional doors added to keep doors locked before, during, and after school
Security Protocols
District-wide Safety & Security Tri-annual refresher training for all PreK-12 staff by Dr. Kustka and WPD; 350 staff trained at 9/19 PD; 400+ during 11/7 PD Additional staff to be scheduled for refresher shortly Schools required by law to complete four safety drills/ year; three must be fire drills Added second lockdown/ safety drill this year (Totaling 5 drills/ yr.) 4 L s Posters and toolkits provided to all classrooms Looking to purchase additional barricades to reinforce interior doors No trespassing/ Stop signs to be printed for all buildings main entrances District Department Heads and PreK-12 principals all received a district-wide radio that can be used for safety communication
Security Signage
Current Safety Protocols Streamlined protocols admin can carry in evacuation (red safety binder) Includes updated Weymouth Bomb Threat Assessment and Report Form Info on all evacuation sites (maps), crisis teams, safety drills, 4Ls training, sub & visitor protocols, etc. Dedicated Chromebook to be taken to evacuation sites to help with reunification Assistant Superintendent and representatives meet regularly with each offsite leader to review offsite procedures and ensure site is still available for WPS evacuation needs Have invited private school leaders to Safety & Security Mtgs as needed Began a Health & Safety Committee with Unit A reps & admin Emergency Response Guides Updated and reprinted in 2016

Transportation Safety & Security Ongoing work with First Student to update Safety & Security on Buses All First Student buses equipped with video cameras Able to view video and identify safety concerns needing to be addressed First Student holding monthly safety training with staff Ongoing communication between WPS HR & 1 st Student to ensure CORI and SAFIS process being followed District-wide fall trainings: Bus evacuation drills occur at each building with First student drivers and SRO support WPS drivers participate in CPR & First Aid PD each year
Annual Safety Checks Last two summers completed Safety Committee Checks at all buildings. With Director of Maintenance visited all 12 buildings to identify current needs July 2017. Identified district-wide and building-specific priorities to focus on 17-18 & 18-19. Raptor system at all secondary schools-does security checks-would like at all buildings eventually. If new building approved for Chapman, will ensure safety updates in proposed plan (cameras/ security entrance, etc.)

Adams-Have added guidance door lock and buzzer to interior from office; just added a fence on Academy side to enhance WeyCare safety; this Feb. 2018 building security entrance in office Chapman-Summer 2018 have a plan waiting for building inspector approval to add security window at main door 2018-19-Murphy, Nash, Pingree, Seach Talbot, Wessagusett: Have various plans for enclosing all six buildings in 2018-19 provided funding available through Capital Plan Security Glass to be added to each entrance, like at updated buildings Ongoing mtgs/communication between central admin & WPD/SROs to debrief protocols and improve safety
