General care and safety guide Thank you for choosing this GOLDAIR Electric Grill. This GOLDAIR appliance has been designed and manufactured to high standards of engineering and with proper use and care, as described in this leaflet, will give you years of useful service. Please read these instructions carefully and keep them safely for future reference. NEVER Never use this appliance outdoors. Never use this appliance for any purpose other than its intended use. This appliance is intended for household use only or in similar applications such as: Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; Farm houses By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; Bed and breakfast type environments. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are supervised or have been given instruction concerning the use of the Electric Grill by a person responsible for their safety. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is near children. Never leave the appliance unattended when in use. Never allow the power cord to overhang the edge of a table or bench top or to touch any hot surface. Never place this appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner or where it could touch a heated oven or microwave oven. Do not place in a hot oven. Never use this appliance on non heatresistant glass, on wooden surfaces or on a tablecloth. Never immerse the Electric Grill, the cord set or plug in water or any other liquid to protect against electrical hazards. Never place the Electric Grill in a dishwasher. Never use harsh, abrasive or caustic cleaners to clean this appliance. Such cleaners may damage the non-stick coating. Never operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug, after it malfunctions, or if it has been damaged in any manner. Have the appliance checked and repaired buy a qualified electrician if repair is necessary. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. The Electric Grill is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system. The use of an extension cord is not recommended. Never use metal scouring pads for cleaning. Small metal pieces can come loose and cause short-circuiting of electrical components, which can cause electric shock or damage the appliance. General care and safety guide, continued ALWAYS Always ensure hands are dry before handling the plug or the Electric Grill. Always operate the Electric Grill in the middle of a secure, dry, level surface. Always place some heat-resistant material under the Electric Grill. Always allow adequate air space above and on all sides for air circulation. Do not allow the Electric Grill to touch curtains, wall coverings, clothing, dishtowels or other flammable materials during use. Do not use under cupboards or curtains. Always be sure to set to off and unplug from the socket when not in use and before cleaning. Always allow the Electric Grill to cool before cleaning and storing. Carry out regular checks of the supply cord to ensure no damage is evident. Return the Electric Grill after a malfunction, or if it has been damaged in any manner, to an authorised electrical service technician for examination, repair or adjustment as special purpose tools are required. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. The temperature of accessible surfaces may be high when the appliance is operating; always exercise caution. Use oven mitts when handling hot materials. WARNING: This appliance generates heat during use. Proper precautions must be taken to prevent the risk of burns, fires, or other injury to persons or damage to property. This appliance is fitted with non-slip rubber feet. Furniture is often coated with various varnishes and synthetic substances and treated with a number of different preservative agents. Some of these products may contain substances that corrode and soften the rubber feet. The feet may then discolour the surface. If necessary place a non-slip mat under the appliance. WARNING: To prevent the risk of electric shock this appliance is equipped with a plug for a grounded electrical outlet that only fits in a matching wall outlet. If the plug dos not fit, contact a qualified electrician for assistance. Never attempt to change the plug yourself. To reduce the risk of electric shock or fire do not attempt to disassemble the power base. There are no components included that could be useful separately. Repairs only by approved professionals.

Clean the outside and bottom of the unit with a soft damp cloth. Wash the grill plate and drip tray in warm soapy water, rinse clean and dry well You will need to season your grill plate before using. Refer to Care and cleaning section on next page. After conditioning, your new Frypan is ready for use.

Operating Your Electric Grill The grill should always be in the - temperature position before inserting or removing the plug from a wall outlet. CAUTION: The metal surfaces will become hot. Do not touch while in use. NOTE: When using the grill for the first time, there may be a smell of smoke coming from the surface of the heating elements. This is normal, due to the invisible protective coating applied during production. 1. Clean the grill pan with a soft damp cloth before operation. 2. Plug the unit in. Turn the temperature dials from the - to + position, to set the desired temperature of the grill. 3. The indicator light for the selected heating surface will illuminate. 4. - is low heat + is high heat. 5. The indicator light will go on and off as the temperature is reached due to thermostat control. This is NORMAL operation. 6. Pre-heat requires 1-2 minutes. Wipe some cooking oil on grill pan and then gently add food once warm. The grill can be used for both raw food and cooked food. 7. When you are finished using the grill, turn the temperature dials to the - position. Unplug the power cord. Allow the unit to cool before moving or cleaning. Care and cleaning 1. Be sure the unit is unplugged from the wall and is cool before cleaning. 2. DO NOT immerse the unit in water to clean. 3. Use a damp soapy cloth or sponge to clean the unit s housing. Do not use harsh abrasives or metal scrubbing pads to clean the housing or grill. 4. Remove the grill plate and clean in warm, soapy water. Dry thoroughly before replacing on grill. 5. Store the grill in a clean dry place. 6. Fat will accumulate on the drip tray. Clean in warm, soapy water after each use and dry thoroughly before replacing in unit. SEASONING 1. It is important to look after the nonstick coating on your grill. Using a nonstick surface allows you to cook with little oil or fat. 2. To season the grill, wash, rinse and dry. Apply a thin coat of oil and gently rub in with paper towel. Turn control to full and run for 2-3 minutes. If you do not plan to cook anything at this time, turn off the control and unplug the unit. 3. Seasoning should be performed before you use the grill for the first time and then every 4-6 weeks. Two year warranty Your Goldair product has been inspected and tested and is guaranteed subject to the following for a period to two years from the date of purchase against defects in workmanship and materials. During this period, such defects will be rectified by repair or replacement of the product purchased. Your product contains no user serviceable components and this warranty becomes invalid if in our opinion the product has been misused, abused, incorrectly installed, tampered with, connected to an electrical supply not corresponding with the name plate specification, or subjected to power surges. The warranty does not include any labour or other associated expense that may be involved in removal or installation of the product. Normal wear and tear is expressly excluded. If your Goldair product fails to operate satisfactorily, please return it to the retailer from whom it was purchased. To obtain a repair or replacement product under this warranty, you will need to produce satisfactory evidence of date of purchase. The completed warranty and purchase receipt must be presented with the product. The warranty should be filled out at the time of purchase. It is in your interest to make sure this is done. If the product is to be replaced (cannot be repaired) then that replacement will be of the same or similar product or accessory excluding packaging, instruction card etc. Where a replacement product is supplied, this shall be guaranteed for the balance of the original warranty period. Any model that is no longer available will be replaced by a model of a value and with such features as we consider appropriate in the circumstances. Goldair Ltd is not responsible for freight forwarding charges, losses or damage in transit. If service is required after the warranty period has expired, the product should be returned to a qualified electrical technician. Service outside of the warranty period will be at your cost. Consumers Guarantee Act (1993). In accordance with the above act consumers are advised that: The manufacturer does not undertake that repair facilities and parts are necessarily available for this product. If any of the provisions of the foregoing are contrary to any relevant legislation, then that provision shall be deemed to be excluded from the warranty and the rest of the provisions will continue to apply.
