1 - GENERAL INFORMATION This instruction booklet is an integral and important part of the cylinder and must be given to the user. Should the cylinder be sold, its possession transferred or the user move out of the premises, this manual is to be left with the cylinder for future user and/or installer reference. Carefully read the instructions in this manual as they provide important information concerning safe installation, use and maintenance. Keep this manual for future reference. Cylinder installation is to be implemented in accordance with current regulations, manufacturer instructions, and performed by professionally qualified personnel, in order to validate warranty provisions. Professionally qualified personnel means people having specific technical expertise in heating system component area, and qualified in accordance with current laws and regulations. Incorrect installation may cause serious injury to people, animals, and damage to property. Manufacturer shall not be held liable for any such injury and/or damage. The cylinder is designed for domestic hot water production and storage. It is to be connected to a water heating system, domestic hot water distribution system and water main network, compatible with cylinder performance and power specifications. Cylinder use other than specified is forbidden and manufacturer shall not be held liable for injury and/or damage caused by improper or incorrect use. Cylinder exterior surface is to be cleaned by means of a cloth dampened by products specifically made for the purpose. Do not use abrasive products or paint thinner. Do not use water. In order to preserve efficient operation, have the cylinder serviced annually by qualified engineer. Appliance repair is to be implemented always using manufacturer approved spare parts. Any accessory to the cylinder has to be manufacturer approved. Always disconnect electric power and water main supply prior to servicing the cylinder. Should the cylinder malfunction, turn it off and have it inspected by qualified personnel. Manufacturer recommends an approved and qualified Service Centre to be contacted for servicing. 3

3 - OPERATION DHW temperature is set by means of the thermostat knob. Boiler electronics will heat water in cylinder prior to CH system water. When cylinder water temperature drops below set level, threeway valve allows CH water through cylinder heat exchanger. Manufacturer recommends keeping cylinder water temperature to 50 C, and raising temperature to 65 C every 15 days for 8 hour in order to prevent Legionella bacteria growth. 4 - INSTALLATION WARNING: installation is to be performed in accordance with current regulations and by professionally qualified personnel or else warranty will be void. A) Choose a location - It is advisable to install the cylinder as close as possible to the boiler, in any case it is important to insulate the connection pipes. B) Water main connection and preliminary operations - verify volume and pre-set pressure of DHW expansion vessel to be suitable in the system - should water be particularly hard, install a water softener upstream from cylinder - should water main contain impurities, install a suitable filter and verify the pumps have adequate flow rate capacity, pressure head and work properly 4.1 - PLUMBING CONNECTIONS 5 3 2 1 4 54 6 60 130 60 1 : DHW flow 2 : Domestic cold water inlet 3 : Flow from boiler to cylinder 4 : Return from cylinder to boiler 5 : Recirculation inlet 6 : Flow to CH system pic. 3 6

6 - START-UP PROCEDURE Fill up cylinder with domestic cold water and bleed air in the system by opening a tap. Fill up cylinder heat exchanger with CH water and bleed air in the 7 - MAINTENANCE In order to clean external surfaces of cylinder, use a cloth dampened in specific cleaning products. Do not use abrasive substances, paint thinner, or petrol-based products, etc. Do not use water. On a yearly basis, check magnesium anode fitted to the flange. It can be inspected directly, by releasing the flange (pic. 5) or externally by means of a multi-meter. system. Set DHW temperature on control panel, following the instructions provided. DHW temperature is best set to 50 C. Cylinder start-up procedure is Should water be particularly hard, the cylinder is best to receive a calcium deposit removal treatment at least once a year. Proceed as follows: empty cylinder by opening the drain tap, then remove the flange to access the inside of the cylinder. Remove any calcium build-up by means of a plastic or wooden spatula and rinse with water. to be performed by qualified personnel. During cleaning procedure, be very careful not to damage cylinder internal coating. Upon completion of cleaning procedure, install the flange and its sealing gasket (should the seal appear damaged, fit a new one), close the drain tap and fill up the cylinder, check for leaks from flange and drain tap. 9
