Weekend Day 1: Command Center / Paper Clutter Go through built-up paperwork and mail and sort (trash, act, file, or store) File all things that need to be filed Act create a plan to deal with important items Kitchen Pantry / Fridge / Freezer Throw out old food or donate items that you will not use Clean and reorganize the pantry Throw out old food Make a plan to use up food near it s expiry date Make a list of items to use from freezer Kitchen Cabinets & Drawers Remove all items from any messy and disorganized cabinets and drawers Purge and/or donate items that you do not use or need Reorganize the cabinets / drawers if the current layout isn t efficient Place items back into cabinets and drawers in a neat and orderly way (consider using baskets or drawer dividers if needed)
Weekend Day 2: Master Bedroom Purge all clothing that you do not wear, do not like, doesn t fit, or is stained or damaged donate or trash depending on the condition Replace all items in your closet in colour coded order (consider replacing your hangers with flat style hangers) Replace all items in your drawers in a neat and orderly way Quick purge and reorganize your nightstands Kid s rooms Purge all clothing that your child does not wear, does not like, no longer fits them, or is stained or damaged donate or trash depending on the condition store too small items in a marked tote for younger children if applicable Replace all items in their closet Go through nightstands, bookshelves, and toys and purge all items no longer being used or that are unneeded Donate, sell, or throw out purged items based on their condition
Weekend Day 3: Bathroom Cabinets and Vanity Check for and purge old nearly empty items Check expiry dates on medications Remove all items from any messy and disorganized drawers Reorganize the drawers and cabinets if the current layout isn t efficient Place items back into drawers or cabinets in a neat and orderly way (consider using baskets or drawer dividers if needed) Mudroom shoes / coats / gear Go through and purge all coats, shoes, and outdoor clothing that you no longer wear, don t fit, or that you don t like Donate, sell, or throw out items that are no longer worn based on their condition Store items that are next size up or down for younger children (if applicable) Laundry Room / Cleaning Closet Purge all cleaning / laundry supplies that are nearly empty or no longer used Make a list of anything that needs replacing Store like items together in a neat and orderly way
Weekend Day 4 Linen Closet Assess the condition of your linens and towels to see if they should be replaced Throw away towels or linens that are very worn and damaged (keep some as cleaning towels) Donate any excess linens / bedding that you do not use or need Fold and neatly organize the linens with like items together (use baskets or bins if needed) Home Office / Craft RooM Quick purge of all supplies and materials no longer used or needed and donate or throw out as appropriate Make a list of any items that need replacing Put things back in their rightful places and tidy up / reorganize the drawers, shelves, and storage cabinets you use Toys & books / Playroom Go through all toys and purge those that are broken, no longer age appropriate, or that they never play with Consider using alternating bins of toys to keep them fresh and interesting Store away some toys to swap out later if using this method Donate, sell, or throw out purged toys or games based on their condition
