BASIC AIR CURTAINS XLA-C : For many applications, such as in shops with large numbers of clients coming in and out, a traditional entrance door may act as a psychological barrier to customers that shop owners would obviously like to avoid (typical examples are: large department stores, supermarkets, bars, restaurants and boutiques). One solution is automatic doors, but these create other difficulties. In fact, each time the door opens (due to someone simply passing along the pavement), the outside air comes into the shop, causing discomfort, and sometimes even illnesses for personnel and customers, as well as increasing energy consumption by air-conditioning systems. The XLA-C series of air-curtains resolve all these problems simultaneously - the customer is induced to enter, the thermo hygrometric conditions of the air remain constant and energy consumption is does not increase. In fact, consumption may drop as these barriers generate an air ring that reduces stratification (Bernoulli effect). This draws the air from the hotter areas in the room and provides a uniform temperature throughout. XLA-C air curtains also prevent dust, exhaust fumes, smells, and insects from entering the room. XLA-C air-curtains can even be used within the same building, to separate areas with different climate conditions. For example, heated areas from warehouses without heating. BASIC AIR CURTAINS XLA-C : The unit, painted RAL9016, is installed above the entrance door, using normal expansion anchors. The room air is drawn in by the fan, passed through the grille on the front and is ejected downwards. The continuous flow of air forms an invisible "curtain" that travels all the way to the floor. The fins on the air outlet can be adjusted. The unit has a 2-speed fan, with a selector switch on the unit itself and a practical remote control is also supplied. The curtian must cover at least the full width of the doorway for which it is installed. If necessary, two or more curtains can be installed side by side to cover very wide entrances. For best results the air outlet grille must be flush with the upper edge of the door and the air flow rate at floor level must be between 1.5 and 2.5 m/s. The models shown in the table are suitable for doors up to 2.8m high. For smaller heights, the unit can be switched to slow speed if high speed generates bothersome draughts. AIR-CURTAINS FOR INDUSTRIAL USES XLE : The XLE series of air-curtains is designed to create an air barrier on industrial doorways in workshops, stores, warehouses, garages and internal areas with different temperatures on either side, etc. Their high performance and simple, strong structure make them the most suitable units for this type of application. The XLE series of industrial air barriers are made using high quality components to guarantee excellent value for money. The structure comprises galvanised or RAL9002 white steel sheet, with a protective coating. The fan support plate is unpainted and made of galvanised sheet. The helical fans have closed rotors, with self-lubricating bearings, making them maintenance-free. This allows the unit to work without any problems, even under the most demanding working conditions. The fan motors are also fitted with internal thermostats to prevent any possible damage due to overheating. The air curtains come 550, 1,500 and 2,000 mm long modules and these can be installed side by side or overlapped to suit the width of the opening to be covered. The units are joined to one another using brackets supplied with the modules themselves. This modular system makes it possible to guarantee a uniform airflow of a constant intensity over the entire barrier, which is not always possible with other types of air-curtain. ti The various modules can be supplied without heating, with a water or heated water heat exchanger, or with heated electrically. The modules with water heat exchangers can be provided with temperature sensors with a anti-freeze function. : The XLE series of air curtains are made to be suspended above doorways using specific support brackets. The maximum working height is 4.5 metres. Alternatively, they can be installed on one side of the opening (max width 4.5 metres) or both sides of the opening to cover an opening 9 metres wide. In this case the air curtain units are fixed to the floor and at the top, using suitable brackets. The various modules (550, 1500 and 2000 mm) can be placed alongside one another to obtain the required width or height. For vertical installations, in order to reduce energy consumption, a "mixed combination" can be set up. This type of installation involves modules that are heated at the bottom and neutral modules higher up, thereby making use of the hot air normally found in the upper areas of the room. The air curtain shall be located as close as possible to the top edge of the doorway, minimal distance from the walls depending on fire safety and standards in the country, our recommendation see figure. To ensure a correct function it is recommended that the air curtain overlaps the doorway by 100 mm on both sides. Correct operation of the air curtain requires that specified distances from the surrounding objects are observed, see figure. Position of the heating water and power supply connections shall be taken into consideration during installation. The air curtain shall be installed using supplied brackets. FOR CIVIL USE XLG CONTROL The XLG air curtains are controlled by the remote control panel or touch panel. The basic parameters of the controller are given in table below. WATER HEATER CONTROL We recommend the following control methods: Basic by throttling TV1/1 thermostatic valve. The valve controls smoothly the warm water supply into the air curtain depending on the temperature of air leaving the air curtain. One valve is required for each air curtain. Economical by splitting (open/closed) ZV-3 three-way zone valve with a servo drive and TER-P room thermostat. The valve switches the warm water supply into the air curtain and back towards the heat source depending on the temperature of air leaving the air curtain or depending on the room temperature. One valve is required for each air curtain. Precise by mixing SMU mixing point, OSMU-01-6A mixing point controller, P12L1000 channel sensor or P10L1000 room sensor. The mixing system controls smoothly the ratio of supply and return heating wa- ter flowing into the air curtain depending on the temperature of air leaving the air curtain and/or depending on the room temperature. One mixing point may be used for multiple air curtains provided that they have identical length and that the exchangers are connected in a parallel arrangement. Required accessories These accessories shall be ordered to make the air curtain functional. Control module A control module is an required accessorie for XLG air curtain and shall be ordered for each air curtain. Control panel is included in delivery of control module. The ordering key for control modules is provided below. Control panels of RF control modules use RF signal communication. DM module uses communication cable with RJ12 and PTPM connector. Control panel of SM control module is connected using common wiring cable (230 V control voltage). A suitable crosssection of the cable shall be determined based on the particular install- ation conditions. This cable should be delivered by a company performing the air curtain electrical wiring. The curtain can be installed over the door opening. All sep- aration distances for flammable materials and safe use of air curtain has to be kept. There are three types of control modules available (SM,DM and DA). Control module is an required accessorie for each air curtain. Additional change of control system is available. Control module is connected with air curtain by quick connection sockets. The SM control module is controlled by the wired control panel. The DM and DA control modules use radio signal control. The basic differences among individual control module types are given in table underneath. DM and DA control modules allow radio chaining, i.e. a single control panel can be used for controlling air curtains at the same time in the same mode. Number of chained air curtains is unlimited (in range of radio signal). DA control modules allows in standard BMS control (Modbus RTU). FOR COUNTERCEILINGS TECHNICAL DATA XLH One external switching element can be connected to air curtains with the SM and DM control module (door contact). Such external switching element activates and deactivates complete air curtain. Air curtains fitted with the DA control module has outdoor temperature sensor connected and allows to connect two external switching elements (door switch, external switch). Air curtain with the DA control regulates the fan speed and output of heater depending on the outdoor temperature and room temperature. DA control module has integrated timer controlled from control panel. Detailed description of the air curtain with DA control module and its function in the automatic mode is available in the instruction manual for DA control module. FOR COUNTERCEILINGS TECHNICAL DATA XLH WATER HEATER CONTROL CONTROL MODULE Each control module for the air curtain with water heater has its own system of water regulation. Following control methods are available: SM control module VCS-R-SM-V Basic by throttling TV1-1/1 thermostatic valve is an required accessorie for SM control module. The valve controls smoothly the warm water supply into the air curtain depending on the temperature of air leaving the air curtain. One valve is required for each air curtain. Pit for the capillary of thermostatic valve is located behind the water coil of each water heater air curtain. DM control module VCS-R-DM-V Economical by splitting (open/closed) ZV-3 zone valve with a servo drive is an required accessorie for DM control module. Room thermostat TER-P can be connected to air curtain with DM control module VCS-R-DM- V. The valve switches the warm water supply into the air curtain and back towards the heat source depending on the temperature of room temperature. One valve is required for each air curtain. DA control module VCS-R-DA-V Precise by mixing MV-3 mixing valve with a servo drive is an required accessorie for DA control module. The mixing system controls smoothly the ratio of supply and return heating water fl owing into the air curtain depending on the temperature of air leaving the air curtain and on the room temperature. One mixing valve is required for each air curtain. A control module is an required accessorie for XLH air curtain and shall be ordered for each air curtain. Control panel is included in delivery of control module. External temperature sensor is included in delivery with DA control module. The ordering key for control modules is provided below. Control panels of DM and DA control modules use radio signal communication. If Modbus RTU is used the connection of DA control module with BMS is made by straight communication cable with RJ12 connector. Communication cable has to be ordered separatelly as an optional accessorie.
