PRM-100 PARAPET ROOF MOUNT WITH ELL CONDUIT FITTING 1.1 PURPOSE The parapet roof mount is designed for outdoor applications on a parapet wall at least 18" high and a maximum of 8" thick. The mount swings in and out allowing easy accessibility to the dome from a roof top. The parapet mount is designed for 9, 15", 18, and KD6 Weather Domes. The parapet roof mount must be installed by qualified service and installation personnel. Installation must be in accordance with all local and national electrical and mechanical codes. 1.2 INSTALLATION Perform the following steps to install the parapet roof mount. See Figure 1-1-1 and Figure 1-1-2. A. Select the location of the dome and ensure a 110-120V, 50/60 Hz or 220-240V, 50/60 Hz (as applicable) to 24Vac power source is available in a suitable environmental enclosure protected from the elements. Refer to Figure 1-1-2 for the amperage required for your specific weather dome and for the maximum wiring distances to maintain the required voltage for your specific weather dome. 1

CAUTION This Mount Must Be Tied To A True Earth Ground. If The Structure Is Not At Ground Potential, An Electrical Connection Must Be Made From The Mounting Flanges To Earth Ground. Surge protection on the data, video, and power lines is recommended to protect the dome from lightning induced electrical surges. Ultrak will not warranty any equipment damaged by lightning induced electrical surges if surge protection is not provided. Ultrak does not warranty equipment damaged by direct lightning strikes. Power supplies with surge protection are available to protect the domes. Installation procedures for these power supplies are provided in Manual Number 517899-1960. B. Secure a safety cable to a building support structure. The safety cable and hardware required to secure it are the responsibility of the installer. Ultrak recommends 3/32 plastic coated aircraft cable, part number 849518-0311. If a looping sleeve is required, use part number 849511-0057. The tool required to crimp the looping sleeve is part number 941508-0049. The safety cable is connected to the top dome in step S below. C. Secure the two flanges on the vertical stanchion pipe to the inside of the parapet using the appropriate hardware for the surface. The mounting hardware is supplied by the installer. The minimum diameter recommended for the hardware is 3/8". Mount the top flange at least 2 from the top of the parapet. Mount the bottom flange so the bottom of the stanchion pipe is a minimum of 1.5 above the roof. 5
D. Connect a ground cable to the flange using the closest mounting bolt. E. Loosen the Allen head screw on the collar above the top flange and the four set screws on the flanges. Slide the vertical stanchion pipe out of the flanges. F. Slide one support strut mounting bracket over the vertical stanchion pipe. G. Slide the vertical stanchion pipe into the two flanges. Adjust the vertical stanchion pipe height so there is a minimum of 1.5 clearance between the bottom of the vertical stanchion pipe and the roof to allow for cabling. Tighten the Allen head screw on the adjusting collar. NOTE Ensure there is a minimum of 1.5" clearance between the bottom of the stanchion pipe and the roof to allow for cabling. H. Locate the dome mounting arm and slide the outer support strut mounting bracket over the dome mounting arm. I. Run the field wiring (video, data, 24 Vac cables, alarm wiring SmartScan III Series or KD6 only, Dave Input/Output Video cable if applicable) and the safety cable through the vertical stanchion pipe and dome mounting arm. J. Insert the dome mounting arm in the elbow on the vertical stanchion pipe and tighten the Allen head screws on the elbow. 6
K. Position the support strut and tighten the four set screws on the support strut mounting brackets. L. Seal all joints and screws in the outdoor mount. Use Dow 3145 RTV for Allen head screws, bolts, joints, and all mounting surfaces. Use Teflon tape for screw-together joints. CAUTION All Joints, Bolts, And Screws In The Wall Mount Must Be Sealed To Prevent Water (Moisture) From Entering Dome. M. Refer to the instructions provided with your specific weather dome for installing the weather dome on the mount. 1.3 INSTALLATION DRAWINGS The following drawing is provided for assistance during installation.
