Organic Response Revolutionary Lighting Control Technology

A revolution in lighting control, the Organic Response lighting control system maximises energy savings without the need for costly and time consuming installation and commissioning. Organic Response is a self contained, factory fitted integral detector which communicates wirelessly with its neighbouring Organic Response enabled luminaires, thereby automatically controlling light across the entire workspace. Organic Response An Organic Response enabled luminaire delivers high performance lighting control without the need for additional control hardware, wiring or commissioning. All intelligence is contained within the integrated Sensor Node, and shared between neighbouring luminaires using proximity limited wireless infrared communication. Infrared Transmitter Motion Sensor Status Indicator Ambient Light Sensor Infrared Receiver Each Organic Response luminaire continuously makes lighting decisions based on the proximity of occupants to it, and shares this real-time information with other Organic Response luminaires, enabling them to make more intelligent decisions. When used with a dimmable ballast, the Organic Response enabled Cascade Edge or Duo 3 will dim or brighten in response to occupant activity and levels of ambient light. A school of fish moves effortlessly and in complete harmony with nature, with individual fish continuously making small decisions in response to the actions of their immediate neighbours and the environment. Each fish is smart enough to operate independently, yet is part of an elegantly flexible system of Distributed Intelligence that solves complex problems easily without the need for centralised control.

Organic Response How Organic Response works The moment a Sensor Node detects occupancy, it switches on its luminaire to a predetermined level. It simultaneously communicates with its immediate neighbours, using proximity limited wireless infrared, telling them it can see someone. On receipt of this signal (and even though it may not itself detect anyone), the neighbouring Sensor Node switches its luminaire on to a specified level (e.g. 80% output), and simultaneously relays a signal to its own neighbours, telling them that one of its immediate neighbours can see someone. This propagates rapidly throughout the floor with each Sensor Node receiving a signal indicating how close someone is to it, and emitting a pre-programmed light level based on that occupancy information, after adjusting for ambient light. Simultaneously, it increments the signal by one level and re-transmits it. Cascade Edge LED with Organic Response When movement is detected a signal is relayed via infrared to other Organic Response luminaires in the area. What are the savings? Organic Response is no more costly than a DALI integrated control system, yet is much simpler and faster to install. This can reduce installation time by up to a third, saving both time and money. Furthermore, Organic Response requires little or no commissioning, and can be re-configured at any time without the need for costly site visits. A simple mobile app is available, giving access to full functionality and configuration. Pre-set personalities are built in, allowing the user to choose from a series of preconfigured scenarios designed to maximise energy savings and provide a comfortable working environment. Create agile, flexible and engaging works Start up mode Luminaires can be configured to enter a preset Scene on start-up. This can reduce power reticulation and generator load in power failure/emergency conditions. Ethernet gateway Allows integration with third party control systems to control the lights. This is ideal for scene setting via a dedicated AV system (e.g. Crestron) or changing other parameters via the BMS. Daylight dimming Daylight dimming can be activated to maximise energy savings in any area that is exposed to natural light every Sensor Node has this capability. Wall washing Helps maintain vertical illumination on certain walls in large open plan offices (or highlight feature walls, pendants & other striking architectural features) while an occupant is anywhere on the floor, improving the look and feel of the space & occupancy comfort. Corridor linking Corridors can be linked to neighbouring zones using the smartphone app. Zones Allows adjacent areas to respond differently to occupancy. Zones can be entirely independent (e.g. separating the printer galley from the open plan), or interdependent (e.g. linking the open plan zone to the corridor zone). Handy for breakout areas, glass fronted offices, and meeting rooms. The Organic Response remote app A simple, intuitive user interface for optimising the lighting control system within minutes with the press of a few buttons. All interaction with the system, including all the features highlighted in this diagram, is enabled using the app.

paces with Organic Response Personalities A luminaire s response to occupancy can be configured using the Personalities feature. There are over a dozen pre-set Personalities, allowing you to find the ultimate balance between occupancy comfort and energy efficiency. Scenes A wireless Wall Switch allows for manual On/ Off switching, dimming and scene control. It can be mounted anywhere within the space and moved simply and easily if working requirements change. Perfect for scene control in meeting rooms or anywhere that requires individual dimming control (e.g. closed office). Sensor node link Connects two physically isolated Sensor Nodes. Ideal for linking a closed office to a neighbouring corridor, so that the corridor remains on while the office is occupied. This ensures that a lone occupant exiting their office late at night is not confronted by darkness. Detached sensor node housing Used to control more than one luminaire, (e.g. down lights or spot lights). Also used to control luminaires which cannot accommodate Sensor Node integration (e.g. pendants) Night lighting/security lighting Vacant reception areas or lobbies can have selected luminaires remain on permanently (at chosen light level), ensuring a welcoming environment for anyone entering the space, upon which the luminaires will intuitively brighten.

One sensor node, unlimited flexibility These levels of interaction with the system, or Tiers of Simplicity, reflect our design ethos and our corporate mission, allowing a plug & play experience that meets the needs of most users and a highly sophisticated interaction for even the most demanding building manager or tenant. All interaction takes place in situ using a simple smartphone app. Tier 1 1. Plug & Play - Select your preferred Organic Response enabled luminaire from one of our STA partners - Have it installed by any qualified electrical contractor - It just works! At a Tier 1 level, Organic Response is completely Plug & Play, requiring no additional wiring, central controller or commissioning. Simply connect the Organic Response Enabled luminaire to mains power and the Sensor Node immediately starts responding to occupancy and information from other Organic Response Enabled luminaires in the space. No further interaction with the system is required to enjoy energy savings and improved occupancy comfort. Tier 2 Tier 1 2. Optimisation Increase energy savings, and improve occupancy comfort: - adjust light levels and dwell times - change lighting personalities - activate daylight dimming Tier 2 interaction involves basic Optimisation using a simple, intuitive, smartphone app. An untrained user can optimise the system within minutes, for significant additional energy savings and improved occupancy comfort. Together with the wireless Wall Switch (also plug & play), Tier 1 and Tier 2 operation provides all of the lighting control functionality required in 90% of all commercial offices, schools, libraries, shopping malls or other public buildings in both developed and developing countries around the world. Tier 3 Tier 2 Tier 1 3. Configuration customized lighting behavior for even more flexibility: - independent & dependent zones - create customized scenes - integration with audio visual systems - it just works! Still using the same easy-to-use smartphone app, Tier 3 interaction involves Configuration of the system to deliver a range of more sophisticated requirements for commercial office buildings as well as airports, hospitals and healthcare facilities. Tier 4 Tier 3 Tier 2 Tier 1 4. Hybrid Systems Exploit the occupancy information cloud (oic) to make your entire building more energy efficient: - integrate with building management systems (e.g. hvac, lift management) - analyse occupancy data to improve space utilisation and workplace design Tier 4 delivers on the promise of the smart lighting revolution, where buildings start to adapt to their changing environment and needs of their occupants. Organic Response will be able to provide real-time, location specific occupancy data that allows for analysis of space utilization and optimisation of building design. Its connectivity to building management systems allows occupancy data to better inform other building services so that they become more efficient. Broader connectivity to the Internet of Things ensures that Organic Response installations are future-proofed.

Organic Response enabled luminaires A wide range of both recessed, suspended and surface mounted luminaries are available with integrated Organic Response sensor nodes. These include: Cascade LED DUO 3 Cascade Edge LED Capital Bayon Foil LED Organic Response sensor node For applications requiring luminaires that are not available with integrated sensor nodes, a remote version is available that can control individual or groups of luminaires up to a maximum 6A of resistive load or 6 DALI ballasts.
