The Oscars Lenham Road Kingswood Maidstone Kent ME17 1LX
Seller Insight The Oscars is an outstanding family home that enjoys a superb, tucked away location on the edge of the sought after village of Kingswood. The house was beautifully designed and built by the current owners in 2009, but what sets it apart from most others is the fact that it boasts around four acres of the most beautiful grounds. The brief was to design a house that would sit comfortably within these lovely surroundings, but which internally would have a very open and free-flowing layout. It s not ultra modern but it has all the mod cons and the layout is centred around a really impressive kitchen, dining and living space, which is ideal for contemporary family life. We ve used a fair bit of oak and glass throughout, and all the rooms are painted white, so it has a very crisp clean look, which really enhances the wonderful feeling of space. There s no doubt it s a very large house, but it s not in the slightest bit imposing, just very comfortable and a joy to live in. The majority of the garden stretches out beyond the back of the house and is so extensive that it s almost like living in the middle of a park, continues Simon. We have open lawns, an array of mature trees dotted here and there s also a small lake right at the very end. We ve also created a play area for our grandchildren who have loved having all of this space to run around and play in. It s absolutely stunning, but there s still the potential to enhance it further as we had planning permission in place for a swimming pool. The hub of the home is without doubt the open-plan kitchen, dining and living space, but I also really love the master bedroom, says Simon. It s very big and has a lovely big bathroom and walk-in wardrobe, and the huge windows take in the most stunning view of the garden. The location is fantastic, says Simon. Our immediate surroundings have a very rural feel and yet in around ten minutes I can either be on the motorway or at the station in nearby Headcorn, so it s easy to get just about anywhere. The generous accommodation also includes a third floor that s currently undeveloped because we just didn t need the extra space, says Simon. It s huge and could easily be divided to create extra bedrooms or even a home cinema or gym. It s the feel of the house and the grounds that I ll miss most when we leave, says Simon. The joy of seeing my grandchildren running around and playing within these beautiful surroundings has been priceless. * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property.
