3 Create your ideal outdoor room Outdoor Spaces have become an integral part of the New Zealand home and are often seen as an extension of your living space. As the move towards bringing the indoors out has developed, so too has the desire to create functional outdoor rooms that reflect our personality and lifestyle. When considering outdoor furniture, choose pieces that embody the way you like to live. Comfort is a top priority and your outdoor room should be as functional as it is beautiful. Create an oasis and a place to unwind with an outdoor lounge. For the ultimate in luxury, a Tribu Natal Alu sofa (page 19) provides comfort and style or try the Manutti River lounge setting (page 7) for a more classic look. For the entertainers, an outdoor dining table is a must. As daylight hours get longer and the evenings warmer, an outdoor table can become just as important as your indoor table. Choose tables that are durable, while reflecting your own personal style. Jati & Kebon s Linate dining table (page 28) constructed with aluminium and a ceramic top is a great option pair it with a set of black Forest chairs from Fast (page 13) for a contemporary and modern look. For those who are traditional at heart, try the Devon Couper dining table with Waipuna Carver chairs (page 35). As we collectively spend more time outdoors, outdoor spaces have become an integral part of interior design schemes. Consider the overall feel of your home and incorporate this look into your outdoor living space. When starting out, pick one item you love and work around that to create a stunning scheme. If you love classic and contemporary design, choose a woven lounge setting such as the Manutti Cascade (page 5) with its intriguing mix of powder coated aluminium and thick woven rope. The more traditional will love the
warmth associated with teak in the Tribu Pure Lounge setting (page 17) or any of the pieces from the Devon range. For a modern aesthetic, look for pieces with strong architectural lines juxtaposed with soft textures. The Fast Aikana lounge (page 16) setting epitomises this, with its sturdy aluminium frames contrasted with plush cushions in a neutral shade of grey. only affords protection from the elements but it will resist fading, mildew and mould for many years and the motorisation option with sun and wind sensors creates ease of use. The Jardinico Umbrella range (page 23) also offers a modern and stylish solution to those long hot summers. For practicality reasons, choose an umbrella made of a sturdy and rustresistant material such as aluminium with a robust fabric cover that is resistant to fading. The canter lever design of the Jardinico range means they can fit over every space or table allowing you maximum use of your outdoor area without having to hide from the sun. No outdoor space is complete without lighting. Well thought out lighting will set the mood of your space while also having obvious practicalities. For an eco-friendly and sustainable option, solar lights are best and our new Maiori range of solar lighting (page 25) will take care of that! Place a few Maiori Parc lights along pathways and a Maiori Petite light on your table top to create a warm ambience. With no need for plugs, these freestanding lights are both inventive and welldesigned. Finally, finish your outdoor space with a splash of personality by adding some custom outdoor cushions or squabs to inject a bit of colour and texture. When selecting your cushion and squab fabrics ensure the fabrics and inners have been designed for outdoor use as they will always be the most durable in variable weather and are fade resistant.
