User Responsibilities Charging Status Checks Amber Alerts All Users leave your name on an Amber alert All due care should be taken to maintain the device in good working order. This is for the user s benefit. Health & Safety The device maximum SAR (Specific Absorption rate) is 0.5 W/Kg (EU maximum is 2 W/KG). There should be no risks associated with wearers with implanted pacemakers. However, it is recommended that users consult their doctor and/or the manufacturer of the pacemaker device. Use of device, as per mobile phone, should be in accordance with regulations/protocols/stipulations relating to that specific environment. Where the use of mobile phones is prohibited, such as in a High Dependency Unit, the device should be turned off. If the area has signs asking that mobile phones, because of nuisance, should not be used then this does not necessarily mean the device should be turned off and this should be discussed with a line manager

Dynamic Risk Assessment Devices issued are safety equipment and provided to the user in support of providing a safe working environment as required under H&S legislation Ensure you always carryout your normal risk assessment, but now include the status check and Amber Alert as part of that daily assessment Devices should be used in conjunction with lone worker policies, always follow your own organisations procedures and attend CRT training Dynamic risk assessment The lone worker device must always be used in accordance with the instructions and training provided Used correctly it will provide a useful safety device. However, it has technical and practical limitations. These might include: The ability of The Emergency Services to respond to an alert The network coverage in the area where you are working Following your risk assessment of a task, if you are in any doubt, do not rely on the device if you think you will be putting yourself at unnecessary risk The Reliance Protect solution and lone worker device is designed to enhance your Trust s existing Lone Worker Policies and Procedures. It does not replace them or the need for the user to conduct their own risk assessment of any task being undertaken

Customers Responsibilities Lone Worker policy in place which complies with Data Protection requirements Risk assessments in place for all lone worker staff Health body risk register in place Compliance with Health and Safety legislation Data Protection and Freedom of Information Act. How does the GPS Work? GPS is sent from the Identicom via SMS It requires line of sight with satellites. It s performance is significantly compromised indoors Accuracy is less than 10m when outdoors. The device only sends the current location when the red alert is raised. It updates itself frequently but only sends the information when a red alert is raised The ARC can request a location fix This information is used in conjunction with the amber alert and LBS (Location Based Service) location fix. How does the LBS Work? (Location Based Service) The mobile phone network, will only provide a crude location position, accuracy to around 100m at best, will work indoors The ARC can request a location fix outside of red alerts as per the GPS above

Man-down Settings Your Identicom device has been configured to send an alarm to the ARC when it detects any one of the following three key triggers The Identicom Is Looking For Three Key Triggers Key Trigger One No movement The device can be set to monitor non-movement for a period of time before escalating the alarm 0-240 seconds
