The awards ceremony is held annually to recognize outstanding students from North Brevard area high, middle, and elementary schools. On April 20, 2016 Titusville Fire & Emergency Services visited Surfside Community Fellowship Church In Titusville. Life Safety Specialist Heather Gilmore provided a presentation on the Fire Departments File of Life Program. The File of Life is just a small medical record that goes on your refrigerator where you can record important medical information such as the medications you are on or drug allergies that you may have. It is a very important tool for the Firefighters, allowing them to treat the patient more efficiently if they are not able to speak, then the record speaks for them. This is a very important tool for every one of all ages to have. A total of 25 individuals attended the presentation. This year, 233 students overall were recognized for their achievement. Participating in the event were City Clerk, Wanda Wells; Assistant City Clerk, Jolynn Donhoff; Secretary, Debbie Denman; Records Manager, Brenda Evans; EDMS Records Manager, Charlene Lehmann; Executive Assistant, Kathy Daniels; Media Specialist, Kurtis Korwan; and the Titusville Police Explorers. Mayor Tulley and City Council; City Manager Larese; Brevard Public Schools North Area Coordinator, Debra Crannell; and School Board District 1 Member, Misty Belford were present to hand out certificates and congratulate the students. On April 22 & 26, 2016 Titusville Fire & Emergency Services participated in a Car Seat Install in Cocoa. Life Safety Specialist Heather Gilmore assisted her car seat instructor, Mrs. Gayle Whitworth, with the University of Florida, at this event. The installs that day focused on a large part of the Spanish community that lives in Cocoa. An interpreter assisted both Mrs. Whitworth and Heather Gilmore with the translation of the important proper uses of car seats and booster seats. Life Safety Specialist Gilmore helped to install a total of eight car seats and inspected two car seats in the event, teaching a total of 30 people. Page 3 of 5
