KTM-TROXLER Red Winemaking System Series BT opened open In an opened tank of 3.000-15.000 litres Comprising: Immersion paddle set with control system, tank (2,000 4,000 litres) with either a flat or a 3 inclined floor according to choice, double jacket for heating or cooling. Technology behind the KTM red wine immersion paddle system Why does the paddle rotate? The traversing ram is driven by compressed air. For the downward immersion movement the moveable blades of the paddle lie on top of the mash. The paddle moves down through a part of the mash cake in a horizontal position. In the subsequent upwards movement the paddles tilt to 45. As a result of the lateral pressure of the mash on the paddle the latter automatically rotates a little during the upward movement, and emerges at another position. (The paddle screws its way, so to speak, through the mash to the surface.) In this way the mash cake is always being displaced and pushed downwards at another position. This process is modelled on the classical process of mash fermentation with gentle hand plunging. The rotation corresponds to the displacement produced by the masher. The rotary movement allows paddles with small surface areas to be used. The force required for the immersion process is therefore small. After approx. 10 15 downward and upward movements the mash cake is completely immersed. With the control system the intervals and the number of such movements can be adjusted (e.g. every 4 hours 15 times up and down). The rounded and enclosed profile of the paddles ensures gentle treatment of the mash. With the KTM immersion paddles that we have developed rotation is automatic without the need for any additional drive. For the production of top quality wines gentle treatment of the grapes and mash is important. The aim is therefore to avoid pumping and contacting movements as far as possible during treatment. This can be achieved in the open tanks of the KTM immersion paddle system. The grapes are fed gently to the stalk separator, e.g. by tipping into the stalk separator or by feeding via a conveyor belt. The mash can be directly stalk separated in the tank, or by means of containers tipped into the fermentation tank, or fed via the conveyor belt. For the fermentation process the immersion paddle unit is mounted directly on top of the tank. By means of the double jacket the mash can be heated or cooled to the desired fermentation temperature. After the fermentation the mash is fed gently to the press. If the tank is located above the press it can be emptied by gravity without any de-juicing process. A transfer of the de-juiced mash in containers and subsequent tipping or emptying into the press is always an alternative. Corresponding to the container sizes there are various heights available for the tank under-frames. Transfer of the de-juiced mash on to a conveyor belt and transport into the press. With container sizes up to approx. 3,000 litres the de-juiced containers can be lifted above the press and emptied using a forklift truck, or tipped using a rotating mounting. 4

The bottles are introduced into the reception star by hand and filled by gravity. For safety an automatic shut-off system is installed. The filling capacity can be controlled electronically. The filling height can be continuously adjusted. The sealing unit is driven with a pneumatic ram. The bottling and sealing unit can be easily adjusted electrically to the bottle height. The reception star can be quickly and easily changed over for different bottle diameters. One reception star (for bottles Ø 76 90) is contained in the standard supply package. Sealer One machine TV 2000 The new sealing unit as a fully automatic system for sealing bottles and other containers (wines, other liquids) in small and large batches. TV2000L For tall caps (Long cap/stelvin cap) The sealing unit can easily be integrated into an existing bottling line or the bottles can be introduced manually. Different bottle diameters can be fed into the sealing unit without the need for additional components. Bottle height and bottle diameter can be adjusted quickly and easily to your requirements. In the equipment configuration for screw caps (see Fig. TV2000S) we have installed a high quality industrial screw cap; a pneumatic ram provides secure sealing. Mod. TV2000S For screw caps The caps are automatically isolated and fed to the screwing head. Because of the quick and uncomplicated disassembly of the conveyor belt and sorting unit this machine is suitable for mobile use, such as, e.g. for the hiring out of bottling equipment. Combinations of different types of seal are possible on request. An extended drive station, extended turning station, and conveyor belt extensions at entry and exit are available as optional equipment, as is a storage table. Conversion sets for different types of sealing can be provided on request. 8

Linear filling unit TLF4 The bottles placed on the conveyor are lifted up from the conveyor belt directly under the filling valve and filled. In each bottling cycle one to four bottles can be filled simultaneously. A bottle halting device ahead of the filling valves controls whether the bottles that are being transported are to be filled in the current cycle, or held back for the next filling cycle. Depending upon the liquid that is being bottled the best filling process such as gravity filling, pressure filling, vacuum filling or metered filling can be used. Bottle height, bottle diameter and filling height can be simply and easily adapted. After the bottles are filled they are automatically sealed. The conveyor belt drive necessary for the bottling function is provided by the sealing unit. The TLF4 linear filling unit is therefore preferably supplied together with the TV2000 sealing unit, or on request, with other sealing units. Sulphuriser TS 600 TS 800 The sulphurisers sterilise the bottles with sulphurated water. This is sprayed from a canister with an electrical hose pump into the bottles. Corrosion-resistant materials such as V4A and plastic ensure a long service life. KTM-TROXLER A clean job TS 600: Sulphuriser with one nozzle. Pressing on the cup sprays water into the bottle. Capacity approx. 600 bottles per hour. TS 800: Sulphuriser with two or four spray stations, according to the configuration chosen. Two stations can also be used for washing out the bottles with water after the sulphurated water spray. Hot bottling unit THA 100 Heating and bottling of fruit juices With the hot bottling unit fruit juices can be heated and bottled. There is a choice between two standard units with either a 9 or 18 kw heating element. A tube heat exchanger gently heats the fruit juice in a water bath. The electronic temperature control holds constant the temperature set for the water bath. A dry-out protection device is installed. All current types of bottles can be filled by means of the bottling module. The bottling module can easily be adjusted to different bottle heights, bottle diameters and filling heights. Start of bottling occurs automatically when the bottle is placed under the valve. Filling stops automatically when the bottle is full. A digital thermometer monitors the juice exit temperature before the start of the filling process. As an option other containers, e.g. bag in a box can also be filled. Gas-fired heater with heat exchanger For increasing the filling performance of the THA hot bottling unit KTM-TROXLER By using our new design of pre-heating unit with gas-fired heater and heat exchanger the filling performance can be increased by approx. 150 litres. The gas-fired heater is supplied with 18 or 24 kw according to choice, gas connection via a R 1/2 ball valve and air/exhaust duct connections (LAF) on a stainless steel frame with a station for straightforward installation of the existing THA hot bottling unit. It can be operated with natural gas (20 mbar) or liquefied gas (50 mbar). The heat exchanger that is supplied as part of the preheater unit package is made from V2A corrugated tube DN20. It is integrated into a cover that fits onto the juice supply tank of the THA hot bottling unit. The heat exchanger heats the juice to between 50 and 60. A bottling module with three stations is recommended. The bottling module can be extended to 3 stations as required. Heat exchanger for external heat sources If an external heat source such as, e.g. a heating system, gas burner, wood-fired boiler or similar, is available the heat exchanger can be used to pre-heat the juice in the supply tank of the THA hot bottling unit. THA100-24 with AG 3, supply tank, gas-fired heater and heat exchanger It is made from V2A corrugated tube DN20 and is integrated into a cover that fits onto the juice supply tank of the THA hot bottling unit. 2 connecting hoses (each 2 metres in length) can be supplied with stainless steel jackets as accessories for the heater or burner. Gravity bottling units TA2 /TA3 bottling unit The TA2 bottling unit has two filling valves and the TA3 has three. The standard supply tank is made from plexiglass. Supply tanks made from glass or stainless steel are also available as an option. The bottling unit is easily adjusted to different bottle heights, bottle diameters and filling heights. The filling process starts automatically when the bottle is pushed under the valve and stops when the bottle is full. Bottle receptors for special bottles (Bocksbeutel, square bottles, etc) are available as accessories. TA 3 TA5 /TA8 electrical circular bottling unit The TA5 circular bottling unit has five filling valves and a supply tank made from plexiglass. A supply tank made from stainless steel is also available as an option. The TA8 circular bottling unit has five filling valves and a supply tank made from stainless steel. TA 5 Both circular bottling units have an electrical drive. The filling performance is continuously adjustable. The circular bottling units are easily adjusted to different bottle heights, bottle diameters and filling heights. The filling process starts automatically when the bottle is pushed under the valve and stops when the bottle is full. Gravity bottling units KTM-TROXLER B400 /B600 row bottling unit Row bottling unit completely made from stainless steel with four or six filling valves and filling status display on the supply tank. Various types of bottles can be filled with the gravity-fed valves. Adjustment can be made to different bottle heights, bottle diameters and filling heights. The filling process starts automatically when the bottle is pushed under the valve and stops when the bottle is full. After the filling process the bottles can either be taken out, or automatically transferred onto the conveyor belt that can be supplied as an accessory.
