WATER SYSTEMS LOW PRESSURE GRAVITY-FED SYSTEMS This is the most common household system in the UK. It utilises a cold-water tank (cistern) in your loft and a hot water tank (cylinder) in your airing cupboard to supply your home with hot and cold water. To create the pressure required for the shower, water is fed by gravity from the cold-water tank. The greater the distance between the bottom of the tank and the top of the shower head, the better the showers performance. The minimum distance required for a shower to operate is usually 1 metre. The water pressure will depend on the pump but in most cases this will be between 1 bar and bar. You may need to increase the capacity of your hot and cold-water tanks.
