EN 14351-1: 2006+A2:2016 The Standards Only used to enable a Declaration of Performance (DoP) to be produced: and Enable a CE label to be supplied It does not specify the product Manufacturing requirements In UK we use the Material specific British Standards
The Standards British Standards for windows and Doors BS 644:2012 - Timber windows and doorsets. Fully finished factory-assembled windows and doorsets of various types. Specification BS 7412:2007 - Specification for windows and doorsets made from unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) extruded hollow profiles BS 4873:2016 - Aluminium alloy windows and doorsets Specification BS 6510:2010 - Steel-framed windows and glazed doors Specification BS 8529:2010 - Composite doorsets Domestic external doorsets Specification
The Standards British Standards for windows and Doors specifies: Manufacturing requirements Component specification e.g. PVC-u profiles to BS EN 12608, Insulating Glass Units to BS EN 1279 series and CE labelled etc. Includes physical manufacturing requirements such as joint strength etc. References the following performance standards for product characteristics BS 6375-1:2015+A1:2016 Weathertightness BS 6375-2:2009 Operation and Strength Characteristics BS 6375-3:2009+A1:2013 Additional performance characteristics Actual testing and classifications are based on European test and classification standards

Security - PAS 24:2016 Enhanced security performance requirements for doorsets and windows in the UK Doorsets and windows intended to offer a level of security suitable for dwellings and other buildings exposed to comparable risk Based on repeatability of testing Geoff Capes vs Kylie Minogue Mechanical loading rig based Manual check manual manipulation Lock assessment Annex A Master Locksmith assessment
PAS 24:2016 Should be carried out by a UKAS accredited test house Full test will require 2 windows for testing Scope of window range test most adverse and vulnerable designs Full test will require between 8 and 14 doorsets for testing Scope of door range Full test evidence should be available Systems House testing Cascaded test evidence Full range of products tested Includes BS 6375-1 testing Fabricator testing Own test evidence
PAS 24:2016 Third Party Certification Must be carried out by a UKAS accredited third party certification body Scope of certification must incorporate the entire requirements of PAS 24:2016 Scope requirements may be extended by certification body e.g. time limit on hardware test evidence Uses PAS 24 and BS 6375 test evidence Check on manufacturers Factory Production Control (FPC) Annual audit and audit testing
PAS 24:2016 Secure by Design SBD require: Full PAS 24 test evidence UKAS accredited Third Party Certification to PAS 24 by the window or doorset fabricator Regular audit testing to BS 6375-1 Fabricator does not need to be SBD registered If not registered, SBD will review evidence and approve (or not approve) cost If registered, SBD will approve use without further cost
