SF-DCC-RX.qxd 13/04/2005 13:30 Page 3 SECTION ONE GENERAL INFORMATION This Chime Receiver must be used in conjunction with suitable IQ Transmitter units in the IQ Wirefree range. Upon detection of a signal from a transmitter (bought separately) this Chime Receiver will react as programmed. PLEASE NOTE:- PLEASE SEE THE SEPERATE INSTRUCTION MANUALS FOR THE TRANSMITTER PRODUCTS TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO PROGRAM AND ADJUST THAT SPECIFIC TRANSMITTER. THIS MANUAL COVERS THE INSTALLATION OF THIS SPECIFIC CHIME RECEIVER ONLY PARTS INCLUDED - Chime receiver unit - Instruction manual. Please keep safe for future reference. TOOLS & PARTS NEEDED - 3 x 1.5V AA batteries The Chime receiver must be used indoors and must be placed within transmission range of the Floodlight Transmitter. (See later sections for details) SECTION TWO CHIME RECEIVER:- INSTALLATION 1. Position your PIR Transmitter (Tx) in desired area, perform walk tests to confirm detection zones. 2. Position your Chime Receiver (Rx) in desired area up to 100m away (free air space) from the Tx, take into account the path between the sensor and receiver to ensure range is acceptable as the range can be reduced by metal objects, walls etc. Open the battery cover by releasing the catch shown on diagram B and insert 3 x AA batteries into the Chime Rx. Ensure polarity is correct. The chime will then scroll through 6 audible sounds to inform the user of its sound options. There will then be four beeps and the flashing LED indicates that the Rx is ready for Auto programming. Note:- This will only happen the first time the batteries are inserted into the Chime Receiver. SECTION THREE CHIME RECEIVER OPERATION AND TESTING Auto Programming Once the PIR Transmitter (TX) and Chime Receiver (RX) are installed, the Receiver needs to learn the coded signal transmitted from the Transmitter. IQ makes this easy with its Auto Programming function. 1.Activate the PIR TX by walking into its detection zone On triggering, the PIR TX will send a signal to the Chime RX The Chime RX indicates it has received the PIR TX sensor`s unique coded signal by playing a default beep. and the LED continues to flash slowly for 5 minutes. (no other transmitter can activate the Chime RX unless you program another IQ transmitter to do so.) 2. You have 5 minutes to select an alarm tone. Press the tone/volume button (see fig I) to scroll through the 6 different alarm tones.

SF-DCC-RX.qxd 13/04/2005 13:30 Page 5 Tune selection using PIR Transmitter:- 1. To place the Chime RX into Program Mode, press the Prog button for approx 1 second until a single beep is heard. The LED will flash on and off indicating the Rx is in Program Mode. 2. Activate PIR TX by walking into the detection area. 3. Scroll to tune required by pressing Tone/Volume selection button, until desired tone is reached. 4. Press Prog button for 1-2 seconds to exit the program mode, a beep sounds and the LED will stop flashing and turn off. 5.The Chime receiver is now programmed to sound your chosen tone when the TX is activated. The Auto programming MODE will expire after 5 minutes (four beeps will indicate this). Alternatively you can exit Auto Programming manually by pressing the the Program button for two seconds, a beep sounds and the LED will stop flashing and turn OFF. Changing the Alarm function at a later time. 1. press the Program button for 1 to 2 seconds. (1 beeps will sound and the LED will flash indicating it is in PROGRAM MODE). Note:- Pressing the PROGRAM button for more than 5 seconds will erase all the pragrammed codes. 2. Activate the Transmitter. Press the Tone/Volume button to select the preferred chime sound. 3. Exit the Program Mode by pressing the PROGRAM button for 1 to 2 seconds. (1 beep will sound and the LED will stop flashing and remain ON, indicating the receiver is in AUTO MODE). Alternatively the Auto programming MODE will expire after 5 minutes (four beeps will indicate this). VOLUME: To set the volume for the chime tone, activate the Tx and the Rx will play the tone you have chosen. Press VOLUME button. There are three settings. High, Low and beep. Scroll to the volume you require. You cannot change the volume whilst the Chime Rx is in PROGRAM MODE ADDING ADDITIONAL TRANSMITTERS The Chime Rx can be programmed to operate with up to 16 additional Transmitters. These products are easily added to expand your system. To add additional Tx`s, press the Rx PROGRAM button for 1 second while the Rx is powered. DO NOT PRESS FOR LONGER THAN 2 SECONDS AS YOU MAY ERASE ALL EXISTING CODES. The Rx will "beep" and the LED will blink slowly for up to 5 minutes indicating it is in PROGRAM MODE. During this time simply activate the add on Tx by walking in its detection zone. The Rx acknowledges the signal with a default tone (and the lamp turns ON if so programmed). This code is stored in the Chime Rx along with the existing codes. As previously, to Program the Rx audible signal triggered by the added TX, press the Tone/Volume button and scroll through the options, then make a selection. Change the volume with the TONE/VOLUME button after approximately 5 minutes when the Chime Rx will have automatically exited PROGRAM Mode. You cannot change the volume whilst the Chime Rx is in PROGRAM MODE.
SF-DCC-RX.qxd 13/04/2005 13:30 Page 6 Erasing All Codes. Tx codes can be erased for reprogramming. To erase codes, while RX is powered, press and hold the PROGRAM button for more than 5 seconds. All programmed codes will be erased and 4 x low volume "beeps" will sound. This will clear the Rx of all programmed codes and place it into the AUTO PROGRAMMING Mode. Note:- to prevent inadvertent programming by other transmitters, remove then gradually add batteries or turn on power to the Tx you want coded to the Chime Rx during the AUTO PROGRAMMING Mode. SECTION FIVE TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE PROBLEM o Chime will not activate when motion is sensed. SOLUTION 1. Batteries are fitted incorrectly in RX, check and retry. 2. Re position transmitter/receiver to cover desired area. 3. Turn Sensitivity knob to maximum 4.. Sensor is too far from receiver, move closer. 5. Metal on building, chain link fence, etc. blocking path of Sensor s signal transmission. To check signal path, set Receiver s to Program mode. Remove Sensor from bracket (recover photocell if daylight). As you walk the Sensor around the Receiver, wave your hand in front of Sensor. Note when it turns the Receiver ON. Remount Sensor in that area. o Chime activates for no apparent reason 1. Sensor may be sensing small animals or passing cars. Reposition sensor. 2. Sensor`s range is too far. Reduce range using the sensitivity control or by pointing the sensor down more. o Chime/Lamp flashes on and off. o Light turns on irregularly when motion is sensed. Heat reflected from other objects may be affecting the sensor. Reposition the sensor Sensor is positioned too far from receiver. Move Tx closer
SF-DCC-RX.qxd 13/04/2005 13:30 Page 7?DID YOU KNOW... IQ products are designed and manufactured to give many years of trouble-free service. The materials used during manufacture have been selected to allow the product to be easily recycled when no longer functional. Waste electrical products should not be disposed of with household waste. Please recycle where facilities exist. Check with your Local Authority or retailer for recycling advice LIGHT POLLUTION & CONSIDERATE LIGHTING Please be aware of the annoyance over-lighting an area can cause to your immediate neighbours. Light pollution caused by incorrectly installing a unit or over-lighting an area can be limited by carefully considering the location and position of your unit before installation. The light spread on all halogen floodlights can be reduced by angling the floodlight downwards on the mounting bracket. This will also concentrate the light on your property and limit the potential inconvenience of the light shining into your neighbours windows etc. Please see Selecting a Location for information on choosing the optimum location for your security light.
