THE BRIDGE HOUSE The Bridge House dates back to the 16th Century, of stone construction it has been extended and refurbished over the years to create a lovely country home with an attached self contained one bedroom annexe. The house retains much of its original character with exposed timbers and fireplaces.

The Bridge House is located just 2 miles south of historic Ludlow on the banks of the River Teme. Set in just over 8 acres it is an idyllic location overlooking Ashford Weir. The Bridge House dates back to the 16th Century, of stone construction it has been extended and refurbished over the years to create a lovely country home with an attached self contained one bedroom annexe. The house retains much of its original character with exposed timbers and fireplaces. With an orchard, formal gardens and meadows bordering the river it is a haven for wildlife. With fishing rights there are several landing stages along the Teme. A private drive from the lane sweeps around the orchards and to the front of the house where there is an extensive gravelled courtyard with ample parking and turning space. Wrought iron gates and fencing open to the front gardens. The main Reception Hall has stairs rising to the first floor and a Cloakroom off. A door leads to the Cellar. We shall miss fishing from our own land down by the River Teme. It is so peaceful and secluded here, our closest neighbours being across the river from us. photo taken by G B Thomas

Seller Insight Splendidly situated just 2 miles south of historic Ludlow on the banks of the River Teme, the Bridge House is set within just over 8 acres in an idyllic location overlooking Ashford Weir. We love having so much land of our own, say the current owners, and being so close to the river for fishing. We have a quarter of a mile of game fishing rights from several landing stages along the Teme, with salmon swimming through in the Autumn. Also belonging to the house is a large field which we use for hay and sileage but which has the potential to be used to keep horses. The house itself dates back to the 16th Century and still possesses much of its original character with exposed timbers and fireplaces. Being of stone construction, it has been extended and refurbished over the years to create a charming country home with an attached self contained one bedroom annexe. We have also built an open triple bay garage with an office above, say the owners, which is perfect for working from home, especially as it is so quiet here. With an orchard, formal gardens and meadows bordering the river, the grounds of the property are a haven for wildlife. Having so much land, we have everything from paddocks and lawns to an orchard with fruit trees and bushes, say the owners, and a dedicated vegetable garden with sheds and greenhouses for growing our own fresh produce. The annexe even has its own lawned area with a beautiful walnut tree. The location of the property is beautiful yet convenient, being just 2 miles from the centre of Ludlow. The train station is nearby for easy travel up and down the country, say the owners, with Shrewsbury and Crewe both a short journey away. Ludlow itself has a fine selection of lovely food shops where we buy our groceries.

The snug is very cosy in winter, while the dining room is fantastic when we have the whole family here at Christmas time.

The Annexe has electric storage heating and has a pleasant open plan Living Kitchen. The Living area has an open fire. There is a Bathroom with shower and a Double Bedroom. Off the drive a large Timber open fronted three bay Garage with an Office above accessed via external stairs.
