Pick regulrly for best yield. 3 Plnt 3 seeds cross leving 8cm between seedlings, cover lightly with soil. Pile the soil over nd mke smll ridge. 4 Leve till they strt to show greenery bove soil level, strt to furrow up (pile more soil on) till ll the greenery is nerly covered, this will lso protect them from the frost, this will probbly need to be done t lest twice. 5 Once the flowers hve died off the pottoes will be redy for digging up, pproximtely the first week of July. TIPS Do not plnt into cold soil or if it is wet or frosty wit while or the seed potto will rot. N OTES TIPS Never leve the plnt sitting in wter. Wter regulrly. Feed every wtering, but only using hlf the strength feed. TIPS A quick guide to Pests for FRUIT nd VEG APHIDS The most common of ll pests. Almost every plnt cn be infested with these bugs. The tiny bugs feed on the sp of the plnt wekening it nd reducing its rte of growth. The plnt lef becomes curled nd distorted. The phids normlly gther underneth the leves s they suck the sp nd excrete sugry substnce onto the leves below which develops into shiny glze, which in turn fter while will deprive the lef of light nd the plnt will eventully die. This lso looks unsightly. Aphids lso shed their skin s they increse in size, the cst off skin will form into whitish dust on the leves below. TREATMENT nd CONTROL Spry with nturl-bsed insecticide BUGCLEAR for FRUIT nd VEG this product kills the phid on contct OR BUGCLEAR ultr which kills on contct but lso leves residul effect which lsts for severl weeks. We lso hve lterntive products in the grden centre. Crrot fly; Unfortuntely there is not chemicl control vilble, either use rised beds under protected micromesh fbric or fleece. 19

The fungus develops mostly on the leves but cn sometimes be found on stems of the plnt. They rnge in colour from ornge to drk brown spots TREATMENT Immeditely remove nd destroy ll the infected leves or plnt prts, collect nd destroy ny fllen leves. FUNGUSCLEAR 2 which is fungicide spry cn be used but check to see plnt suitbility before use. GREY MOULDS This is very common fungus tht grows on mny plnts. This is greyish fuzzy fungl growth which grows over the infected re, the spred of this fungl disese depends on the stge to which the infection hs developed. TREATMENT Remove nd destroy ll ffected plnt prts, keep regulr checks on your crops to void bdly disesed plnts. Do not be tempted to compost these infected plnt prts. 20
