Annex D: Project Logframe Matrix OVERALL OBJECTIVE: Protect the unique ecosystems and biodiversity along the Sava River through supporting Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina in a) improving transborder cooperation with the neighbouring Sava coutries, b) protecting floodplain landscapes and wetland areas, and c) maintaining retention functions of the floodplains. PROJECT PURPOSES: 1. Support transborder co-operation and agreement with the neighboring Sava countries. 2. Protect global significant biodiversity 3. Support rural development through adjusting land use practises to the requirements of the ecological network. PROJECT RESULTS: 1. MoU between Sava countries to designate and manage an ecological network along the Sava. 2. Proposal for an ecological network with protected areas, ecological corridors, buffer zones and restoration areas in accordance with EU Birds & Habitats Directives and WFD. 3. Established GIS on the ecological network 4. Strategy for sustainable land use and rural economic development to support biodiversity and landscape protection and to reduce nutrient emissions. 5. Action plan to support land use practises adjusted to local conditions and protection needs. Ecological network along the Sava of protected areas, ecological corridors, buffer zones and natural flood retention areas established. Land use practises are adjusted and awareness is raised on natural values and landscape structures along the Sava. 1. Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Sava countries for cooperation on designation and management of an ecological network along the Sava 2. The ecological network is approved by relevant national authorities in the Sava countries, as well as are strategies and recommendations for land use practises and natural flood retention. The project reports with guidelines, methodologies, assessments, analyses, recommendations, action plans, strategies and measures developed during the project period are submitted timely to and approved by the Project Steering Committee (PSC) and the EU Commission. After approval handed over to the relevant national authorities in Croatia and Bosnia- Herzegovina, as well as in the two neighboring Sava countries. 1. Signed MoU between the countries. 2.
